0219 St. Cafe: Delicious Drinks That Won’t Hurt Your Wallet

On the next episode of our business venture, we were able to expand our milk tea business as we open another branch of Breen Milk Tea in Calapan. I found out that our location was near to 0219 St. Cafe. People even say that the cafe will be our greatest competitor because we’re in the same area. So we tried visiting in the said cafe.

This made me realize that there’s no need for comparison because we’re in the different fields. Their specialty is coffee. Our specialty is milk tea. Comparing the two products is like comparing apple and orange. People must understand that iced coffee and milk tea are completely different drinks. Milk tea is to satisfy cravings while iced coffee is to comfort. The two are must-haves. This is the reason why whenever I’m in Calapan, you will see me chilling in the other milk tea shops in Calapan or having a great time in 0219 St. Cafe. It depends in the mood.

Our first visit in 0219 St. Cafe, which is supposed to be a trial visit, was followed by second, third and so on. My boyfriend and I love staying here because of three reasons. It’s just near our store so whenever we need a break from work, it’s a place to relax with our coffees. Second, the ambiance is wonderful, well-ventilated and calming. Third, they offer excellent coffees and drinks.

The Iced Caramel Macchiato is a great coffee. However, it’s just plain and has no edge when compared to the same product of other cafes. I like that it’s not too sweet though. But it lacks this caffeine kick. The Salted Caramel Frappe was my boyfriend’s drink so I only got a small sip from it. Based on that, it just had a right amount of sweetness despite of the caramel flavor. But when it comes to their frappes, I like the Cappuccino Frappe more.

Wow! We ordered Salted Caramel coffee here twice already! It’s not a favorite but I admit that this Salted Caramel Macchiato is lit. It’s like a salted caramel bar transformed into coffee. The salted caramel is indeed recognizable. I thought it was the opposite for their Caffe Mocha because at first, I can’t distinguish the chocolate flavor in the java. It was late when I discovered that the chocolate syrup sits at the bottom so it needed stirring before drinking.

Ordering matcha in any cafe is s risk for me because there are types of matcha which I like and which I don’t. I’m glad I took it in 0219 St. Cafe because they have the sweet and creamy matcha, which I like. The one on the left is their Cookies and Cream Blended Creme. I appreciate the Oreo bits but as I munch them, I can also chew some ice bits and I don’t like the feeling. This cookies and cream drink is more on the cream side than the cookie side.

I’m truly amazed with their Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake because I can really feel that this is a pastry turned into drink. Actually, it reminds me of a certain biscuit called Sunflower Crackers. It has a cakey texture from the graham and has foamy whipped cream. I’m not a fan of their Peach Fruitee because in the first place, I’m not fond of peaches. It’s the only Fruitee available that time. But that’s just me. Others may like it.

Earl Gray Tea

As you can see, they are using Twinnings for their hot tea. Basically, I’ve tasted their teas even before visiting 0219 St Cafe because Twinnings are also my tea at home. I already tried Earl Gray and it’s really good although I like Peppermint better, which is not available at the time of our visit. I usually add lemon on my Earl Grey tea to add a little tanginess. I recommend adding a slice of lemon on the side because someone may like it.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Waffle / Hot Choco

I’m addicted to their Blueberry Cream Cheese Waffle! The cream cheese mix has a perfect blend of creaminess and cheesiness. It went well with the blueberry syrup because they are both sweet and tangy at the same time. The waffle alone is fluffy and thick. I ate it with their Hot Choco that tastes like Swiss Miss. It’s thick and chocolatey. There is something colloid at the bottom of the cup which signifies that it isn’t made of a simple choco powdered mix.

Ala Pesto Pasta

0219 St. Cafe offers three pastas namely Spaghetti, Ala Pesto Pasta and Creamy Carbonara. Craving for a basil dish, I opted for their Ala Pesto Pasta. I can see that the fettuccine pasta was delicately tossed into the sauce. However, for me, it’s kinda bland. I think it’s lacking in pesto sauce. But the fish was a good addition as it gives flavor to the pasta. The fish was absolutely flavorful. Is that tuna? I’m not sure.

Nachos

The chips they use for their nachos are not really the usual nacho chips. It’s like a certain commercial snack food I can’t recognize. But they had a good choice of chips. It already has barbecue flavors in it. I also like the impact of chilliness the salsa gives to the nachos. The barbecue and chili flavors were an incredibly explosive fusion to my palate. While it has enough amount of meat, I wish it has more cheese, too.
