How To Make Iced Matcha Reversed Cappuccino
It’s the 16th day of quarantine period in our region and because of boredom, everyone’s switching their attention to this video-sharing app called TikTok. While everyone are watching and enjoying themselves into TikTok dances and skits, some people like me are amazed to recipes posted on the said social networking app. Because of TikTok, a picturesque coffee caught the attention of many. Dalgona Coffee, a coffee originated in Korea, is gaining prominence around the world at this time of pandemic.
I describe Dalgona Coffee as a reversed Cappuccino, which is an espresso-based coffee from Italy that is traditionally prepared with steamed milk foam on top. Oppositely, the Dalgona Coffee is a milk topped with coffee foam. Videos of making Dalgona Coffee has circulated online so it’s kinda late for me to share the process on how to create them. I know you already stumbled into some of the videos. Therefore, I did a little tweaking and decided to make my own version of this trendy coffee. Instead of milk, I’m putting iced matcha latte at the bottom. I got the inspiration from Starbuck’s Matcha and Espresso Fusion.
1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.
- 3 tbsp instant coffee powder
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 200 ml hot water
- 2 tbsp matcha powder
- 3 tbsp powdered milk
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
- ice
2. Heat the water. It’s important that the water is boiling point.
3. Let’s start at the bottom part and make the matcha latte. Fill shaker with 150 milliliters of hot water.
4. Dissolve the powdered milk, matcha powder and corn syrup into the hot water.
5. Fill with ice, close the shaker and shake.
6. Pour matcha latte into your glass.
7. Combine the remaining hot water, sugar and instant coffee powder in a bowl.
8. Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture until it goes foamy and frothy.
9. Top matcha latte with coffee froth.
10. Your Iced Matcha Reversed Cappuccino is now done and ready to be served. And yep! I also made the original Dalgona Coffee.
