Zagu: Irresistibly Different
It’s the 104th day of quarantine period in our region and I thought the days of this virus in the Philippines won’t reach this number of days. It’s sad but I’m thankful that my family are in good healthy.
Being isolated in one place due to Covid 19, I’m running out of subjects to post, and money, actually. So now, I’ve decided to feature the brands that I had no plans of posting before. They are already well-known brands that don’t need my approval. But I decided to post them anyway so we can have something to talk about.
Before milk teas, there were bubble shakes. Zagu is known to be the brand that started the sensation of adding tapioca pearls to shakes in the Philippines when they launch their first store in 1999. To this date, “Zagu has blended millions of pearl shakes” that they produced in tiny kiosks located in almost every corner of the country.
Now, we’ll have a taste of Zagu’s five flavors, which are randomly picked.

In all honesty, we became familiar with the flavor of Taro because of Zagu. If I’m not mistaken, I think, this is everyone’s favorite when Zagu opened up in Pinamalayan. When we were buying before, it’s always a decision between Taro or Watermelon. This purple drink is unexplainbly delish, creamy and addicting. Zagu’s Taro became my standard flavor whenever I buy other bubble shakes or milk teas of the same flavor.
order soma with no prescription Black Forest
Yes, I could recognize the chocolate and cherry flavor, the main composition of a black forest flavor. However, the whole thing tastes like medicine. It isn’t icy but it’s cold enough to refresh. The pearl, this time, is silky and chewy but there were hard parts in the middle. I always like their rice crispies. They’re crunchy and satisfying. But I think, I made a wrong decision to put it in a Black Forest drink.

I’m into cheese but not into cheese drinks. I’m up to challenges though so I tried Zagu’s Quezo Royale. I realized that sinkers have big impact to drinks like for this one, the flavor of the sweet corn is more dominant than the flavor of cheese. It’s a good thing that the corn kernels and the cheese shake were a good pair. I’m happy that there were no ice crystals that bothered my drinking. This time, the pearls lack sweetness but has the right tenderness.

Yep! This is from Zagu although it seems not because of the lid. I guess their branch in Citimart Calapan ran out of sealing film. Anyway, it feels like I’m drinking a four season-flavored Del Monte juice drink because first, they have similar blend, second, the ice has fine texture and third, I added fruit bits as sinkers. I’m just glad that they all complemented with each other. The shake has a hint of tanginess but the sweetness of the pearl balances the flavor.
Buko Pandan
I have to be honest. I didn’t like their Buko Pandan. It’s evident that this is mixed with powder forced to have buko pandan flavors. I know this is really made with powder but I hope they make it close to the natural flavors of buko pandan. It’s also icy and the pearls were bland. Thankfully, the crystals were soft and chewy at the same time. The Watermelon along with it was for my boyfriend. It’s his favorite.
