Wright Wings: Wings Done Wright
Army Navy has firmly established itself in the food industry through their delectable tacos, burgers, and quesadillas, known for their quality and flavor. So when Wright Wings, an Army Navy brand, entered the scene, along with Libertea, there was a high expectation for delicious offerings and good quality and they don’t disappoint.
Wright Wings offers some inventive flavors that are worth a try, with a reliably crispy base that makes each order enjoyable. The flavors may vary in intensity, but if you’re a fan of texture and crispy skin, they’ve got you covered. Just a little more attention to flavor infusion would take these wings to the next level. Here’s my experience with some of their standout options.
Classic Buffalo
Wright Wing’s Classic Buffalo delivers a good balance of tanginess and spice, though some might find them milder compared to traditional Buffalo-style wings. This can make them a solid choice for diners who enjoy heat but don’t want an overpowering spice. The quality of the chicken itself is evident, and their commitment to a well-cooked, crunchy base keeps these wings enjoyable and accessible for wing lovers and those new to buffalo wings alike. Because of their consistency, my friend doesn’t miss a trip to Manila without buying their Classic Buffalo.
Mango Salsa
These wings came with an intriguing twist that had me curious from the start. Although it was recommended, the mango flavor itself was surprisingly absent, leaving only a hint of tanginess that wasn’t quite mango-like. The crust was especially notable as it was super crunchy. There’s a generous amount of skin, which will please those who enjoy a crispy texture, though it can overpower the meat on smaller cuts like the wings. For the drumettes, though, there’s a nice balance, with juicy, tender meat that reminded me of Chickenjoy. Also, the tomatoes in the salsa hit the mark.
Orange Chicken
This was another fruity flavor that won us over. Though it wasn’t distinctly orange in flavor, it had a pleasant acidity that worked well with the chicken. The wings were served steamy hot, adding to the appeal. Plus, that exterior skin had so much crisp in it! Wright Wings do not fail when it comes to the breading. I initially ordered this for myself, but my husband liked it so much that he couldn’t resist finishing them! I ended up ordering another just to satisfy my own craving. Good job, Wright Wings!
Salted Egg
Dear Wright Wings, do you realize that it would be more flavorful if you cooked the chicken in salted egg sauce instead of coating it with powdered salted egg flavor? In this case, the salted egg flavor didn’t reach the inside at all. It was just skin-deep. The chicken wasn’t even moist when they put the salted rub in it, so the flavors weren’t infused well. The rub wasn’t very flavorful, either. Despite the yellow color hinting at a strong flavor, it ended up tasting rather plain, with the seasoning sticking only to the skin. It’s a missed opportunity for something richer and more flavorful.
Honey Mustard
If Wright Wings nails one thing, it’s consistency in their chicken’s crispiness and size. These were perfectly crispy and generously portioned, with a delicious base that shines through even when you’re not entirely sold on the flavor. My husband doesn’t usually enjoy mustard, but he ordered these for the honey and ended up enjoying them because the quality of the chicken won him over. It was heavy on the mustard, which I personally loved, and he didn’t mind finishing his plate. Wright Wings makes it hard to leave even a single wing behind!
