What To Do And Where To Go In Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera, located in Oriental Mindoro, is renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant marine life, and diverse recreational activities.

As a proud Mindoreño, I must say that we are incredibly fortunate to have Puerto Galera as a nationally recognized tourist attraction right here in our land. Just a convenient three-hour journey from home, it’s a gem that continues to captivate tourists from all over the Philippines and beyond. For me, Puerto Galera holds a deep personal connection. I’ve been visiting this vibrant town ever since I was a toddler so many times that I’ve honestly lost count. The place has become second nature to me, its sights, sounds, and flavors embedded in countless cherished memories.

Let me share with you some of the must-visit attractions in the coastal town. Each of these destinations contributes uniquely to the charm of Puerto Galera, ensuring visitors have a memorable and diverse experience.

White Beach

White Beach is one of Puerto Galera’s most popular destinations, celebrated for its expansive stretch of fine white sand and clear turquoise waters. It’s an ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming, island hopping and other water activities. As the sun sets, the area comes alive with a bustling nightlife scene, featuring beachfront bars, live music, and fire dance performances. Visitors can also indulge in local delicacies at numerous eateries lining the shore.

While in White Beach, you can opt to check in at Mang-Yan Grand Hotel, a modern beachfront accommodation in White Beach. This 4-star hotel offers guests a range of amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool, air-conditioned rooms and easy access to the beach.

Sabang Beach

Sabang Beach is a haven for diving enthusiasts, boasting a rich marine ecosystem with diverse coral reefs and abundant marine life. Numerous dive shops in the area offer courses for both beginners and advanced divers, making it accessible for all skill levels. Beyond diving, Sabang has a vibrant nightlife with various bars and restaurants, providing entertainment after a day of underwater exploration.

When we visited Sabang Beach, we stayed at Casalay Boutique Villas & Diving Spot. It wasn’t really in Sabang Beach but it is one of the luxury hotels within Barangay Sabang.

Muelle Bay

Muelle Bay serves as the main port of Puerto Galera and is known for its picturesque harbor dotted with yachts and boats. The bay is a gateway for yacht cruising, offering visitors a chance to explore the surrounding waters and nearby islands. Cruises often include activities like snorkeling, fishing, and sightseeing, providing a comprehensive maritime experience.

This is also the port where we rode our boat going to our location of accommodation, which is Fridays Puerto Galera. It is a tucked away beach in the island of Boquete and is only accessible by a boat ride.

The facility provides go-kart racing, off-road adventure tracks, paintball, zorb ball, and jungle camping. It’s an excellent venue for families and groups looking to add excitement to their Puerto Galera itinerary. It’s a good thing that the hotel we’re staying has a contact with Xtreme so sudden booking wasn’t a hassle. Arriving at the compound, we were welcomed with a view of lush tropical jungle. Upon seeing this, we already know that a fun adventure awaits.
