Abing’s Grill x Fiesta Cuisina

Abing’s Grill is the newest restaurant in town! But actually, this restaurant we thought as new already made waves in Pinamalayan for a few years now. How? Well, If you’ve heard of Fiesta Cuisina, located at Bonifacio Street, the milk tea house located at the same street and Abing’s Grill, located at the Nautical Highway, then you’re fully aware that this new Abing’s Grill is the fusion of those three notable restaurants in Pinamalayan.

Fiesta Cuisina has been there since I was high school. It has been our option whenever we want to warm ourselves with hot lomi or bring home affordable pancit in winnowing basket. The milk tea house located near Fiesta Cuisina was also part of our high school days. It has been our chillout place after leaving IHMA. It’s the first ever food house that offers milk tea in town. Abing’s Grill at the Nautical Highway was just new but it already caught the attention of many people, specifically students, due to its affordable rice meals.

When I’ve heard of the reopening of Abing’s Grill that will combine Fiesta Cuisina, the milk tea house and the old Abing’s Grill, I was thrilled because finally, we will be able to try the three specialties in one place.

Bihon

Whenever we have to take out pancit, Fiesta Cuisina is always our go-to place. You can never go wrong with their Bihon because it’s delicious. Their menu says that the small size is good for five persons but we were ten and all tummies were full and satisfied. We also bought Canton Bihon some other time and I like this better because I personally like canton. It isn’t dry and it’s well-seasoned.

Shanghai Rolls

Lumpiang Shanghai is all over social media but I personally think that the dish is overrated. I’m choosy when it comes to Shanghai Rolls because for me, there are good Shanghai Rolls and there are bad ones. And I’m happy to classify Abing’s Grill’s to the good ones. Their Shanghai Rolls are very tasty. They are short yet big. The wrapper is incredibly crispy. Despite of having a thick wrapper, it still has a great deal of meat.

Mojo Potatoes

Abing’s Grill’s Mojo Potato isn’t the crispy type. It’s the starchy type. But both cooks are great so it doesn’t matter. Although it’s oily, I love that the cuts were thick and that they kept the breading as thin as possible so it isn’t deceiving. The potato is totally flavorful especially the skin part. However, I prefer it saltier. Even though it was served, I was able to finish it seconds after it landed our table.

Sinigang na Isda

The menu says Sinigang na Hipon but it isn’t just a plain fish sour soup. It’s a big bowl of salmon head stew for only 180 pesos! It’s tanginess isn’t a joke and I must say that this is how a sinigang should be. The version has a hint of umami. The salmon head has generous amount of pink meat. I could sense its freshness and natural flavors. Plus, it’s very tender. Aside from the fish, you can get enough vegetables of different kinds here.

Tuna

When I was still scrutinizing the Sinigang na Isda, mom was already on the tuna and she kept telling me that it’s delicious. And when I tried, I couldn’t help but agree. The tuna steak cut is big for 150 pesos. It’s full of flavors. The tuna itself still has its natural flavors and the marinade they used is sweet and luscious. The whole thing complements with the java rice. I truly enjoy this dish. I think that this will also be good as a bar chow.

Abing’s Burger

The beef patty has the generic taste but for a burger as affordable as this, it’s already good. After all, this burger is abundant. The bacon, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion were good addition to the burger. I think, the only problem I have here is fact that it’s quite messy to eat because the sauce is watery. But this same sauce makes the burger more delish so I think, it’s fine. Abing’s Burger is served with fries flavored with sour cream.

Bubble Egg Waffle

I’m so happy that Bubble Egg Waffle is now in Pinamalayan. Hail to the first and only restaurant that has it in town! It’s served with ice cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and syrup, which, I think, are kinda childish. I hope that there are more toppings to choose from. However, it’s the waffle itself that stood out. Aside from the one-of-a-kind appearance of a Bubble Egg Waffle, the dessert is indeed yummy. It has creamy flavor and crispy edges.

Hazelnut Milk Tea / Wintermelon Milk Tea

I noticed that their milk teas have more tea than milk which makes it closer to authentic but may not be preferred by the others. Although we have our own milk tea shop, honestly, I like Abing’s Grill’s Hazelnut Milk Tea than ours because the hazelnut flavor was dominating and it has the right sweetness. Actually, both milk teas were able to deliver their respective flavors. But I like our Wintermelon Milk Tea more.
