Asian Fusion Restaurant: The First Asian Garden Resto In Town
It’s the 205th day of quarantine period in our region and this October, we celebrate Breen Milk Tea’s Roxas branch’s first year. We’re indeed blessed to have Roxasenio’s love and support throughout the year. But apart from that, we’re also thankful because this venture enable us to explore more about this town from the South. In this year, I was able to learn what Roxas has to offer when it comes to food. And here we are, celebrating our first year in one of the well-known restaurants in Roxas.
Offering a food selection from Asia, Asian Fusion provides its customers a tour inside and outside the Philippine cuisine world. Feeling Japanese? Call your friends and try their Hot Pot. Want to be one step closer to your oppa? Get your chopsticks ready for Asian Fusion’s Korean Samgyeopsal. Can’t leave your love for Filipino food? Asian Fusion has Boodle Fight in their menu.
But here’s what Breen people had last time.
Korean Hot Wings
I was surprised to see huge pieces of chicken wings on this plate. Usually, wings are just drumettes or wingettes. But Asian Fusion’s Hot Wings weren’t cut into parts making them big. Being meaty was its advantage. On the other hand, being less crispy was its disadvantage. The spiciness was just mild. I like the sauce, especially the hint of sweetness. I just think that the chicken itself needs more flavor since the meat was dry.
Japchae
The Japchae successfully got the Korean umami flavors. It’s generous on toppings. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy and the fishcakes leveled the dish up. I loved it but when I tried their Beef Chow Fun Noodles, I found my new love. Although this also has plenty of vegetables, this Cantonese dish is even more flavorful. I’m enjoying the texture of the wide rice noodles. Both are heavy in tummy since they both have thick noodles.
Tempura
Visually, this is close to the traditional Tempura. It’s big. It’s thick. Other restaurants make their Tempura big by covering them with thick batter. But I’m glad that in Asian Fusion, they’re not tricking us with the size because the shrimps inside were actually full. Plus, the breading sticks well with the meat. Perhaps, my only problem with this dish is the prawn being kinda dry. But the sauce got us covered on that part. They gave us two kinds of sauce to choose from.
Bibimbap
Honestly, I was doubtful with it at first because the ratio of rice to toppings is quite immense. But after mixing them and trying a spoonful, I guess I got my favorite dish in Asian Fusion. The toppings were great, especially the Kimchi. I’m also happy to see runny egg yolks on top. But it was the sauce that did the magic. It’s nutty and delish. This is supposed to be for sharing. But I ended up eating most of it.
Beef Bulgogi Gimbap
Here’s another Korean dish to try in Asian Fusion. While I was munching the Bibimbap all by myself, my companions were going gaga with Gimbap. It’s a good thing that the serving was plenty for them. It’s delicious. They successfully made it compact, too. The rice was dominating though, despite of having Bulgogi fillings. I also don’t know why they have to put the ends on top. It isn’t attractive.
Pork Ribs in Oriental BBQ Sauce
I must say that this is also good, although it wasn’t the best and wasn’t at its best. The Oriental BBQ Sauce made it stand out. It gives the pork ribs an Asian touch. My palate even mistook it as beef because it’s savory. The meat is just quite dry and tough. It doesn’t easily tear from the bones. Side dish can be rice of fries. The steamy hot rice and the pork ribs make a great match. The fries is well-cooked but it needs more salt.
Lumpiang Shanghai
The Shanghai Rolls were perfectly wrapped which made me wonder if these rolls are even real. Every part is crunchy while the meat inside is well-gounded. But tastewise, for me, the pork was kinda meh. I prefer something else. However, that was just me because my boyfriend loved it. He even ordered another one. He paired the first with rice and the second one with beer. I actually think that it’s an excellent bar chow.
Fresh Cucumber Breeze
It’s my first time to try a cucumber turned into smoothie or milkshake. It’s always a lemonade. I admit it amazed me because the mix is something new. It’s milky but the flavor of cucumber is still there. It’s topped with ice cream and nuts, which added a fun texture. The restaurant actually offers incredibly unique drinks, aside from beers, sodas and juice. I must try the Strawberry Matcha Latte and Brownelli for dessert next time.
