Greatest Heats Of Buffalo Wings N’ Things
It’s the 321st day of quarantine period in our region and I want to welcome myself back to Buffalo Wings N’ Things! God! It’s been a long time. I remember myself back in college when Buffalo Wings N’ Things is one of my go-to place during break time. A branch is just in front of St. La Salle Hall, which is the School of Economics building. I just have to cross Taft Avenue to taste luscious and savory chicken wings.
After college, the SM Lipa and the Shell SLEX Mampalasan branches are our usual stopover whenever we travel from Mindoro to Manila. It’s just sad that my Buffalo Wings N’ Things experience halted because of the pandemic. It’s just now that I finally had a taste of their wings again. Nice to see you again, Buffalo Wings N’ Things!
And now, let’s talk about their wings and things.
Garlic Parmesan | Lousiana Cajun Spice
These are really big wings so they’re sure to have a good amount of meat. They also don’t disappoint us with its crispiness. The Louisiana Cajun only have a regular breading that is just spicy and tangy. The Garlic Parmesan were juicy. They let the natural juices of chicken come out. The cheese may be there but it’s lacking. I think, for this round, or for this branch, they need to add more rub for their wings. Moreover, our orders are served with iced tea that tastes like Lipton.
Honey BBQ | Creamy Salted Egg
I can distinguish the honey from the barbecue sauce in Honey BBQ. However, the sauce is just skin-deep so the inside of wings is kinda bland. Honey BBQ was my order but I ended up liking the Creamy Salted Egg more because it’s indeed savory and the flavor reaches the meat. Are they using real salted egg yolk? The flavor seems so real. Creamy Salted Egg is my boyfriend’s usual flavor in Buffalo Wings N’ Things and he has no plans of changing.
Jalapeno Cheddar | New York’s Finest
I’m really happy to know that customers can choose which cut of chicken they want. So I had the thigh part this time. The skin for both flavors is crispy and I love it. Both are also mildly spicy and has generous amount of juicy meat. I’m not into spicy stuff but I ended up liking these two. The touch of spiciness in New York’s Finest was flawless while Jalapeno Cheddar has a good addition of butter and cheese.
Firehouse Classic
I said I’m not into spicy dishes but here I am, trying Buffalo Wings N’ Things’ Firehouse Classic after trying their New York’s Finest. It’s confirmed that I’m not a Buffalo chicken expert because I see both sauce as the same. This is just saucier and spicier but both delish. I don’t know but this is the spiciest wings I can take in this wing house. There are four more flavors hotter than this and I can’t imagine how spicy they would be.
Yangnyeom | K-Pop
Yangnyeom Chicken Fillet was my mom’s order. I’m enjoying it because the plate is more of crispy chicken skin. However, my mother doesn’t like it because she was expecting some good amount of meat here. But they gave an incredible touch of spice into the chicken and rice. I also tried their Boneless Chicken in K-Pop flavor and I personally like it because aside from the sweet and spicy flavor combo, it gives me that doenjang flavor, which is a very Korean thing.
Pulled Pork Nachos
This Pulled Pork Nachos is a proof that wings aren’t their only specialty and that they are also expert in “things”. For this dish, they are using a fine kind of chips, which is as thin and crispy as lumpia wrapper. It seems homemade and that’s admirable. There isn’t much pulled pork and the salsa on top but the amount is enough to flavor the nachos. Moreover, the chips alone are already seasoned so there isn’t a lack of flavor.
Chick’n Quesadilla
When I had a bite of their Chick’n Quesadilla, I couldn’t help but admire the tortilla bread. It is clearly homemade, it is super thin and it has melt-in-the-mouth effect. It has big cuts of chicken which makes the quesadilla thick. But because of this, the chicken cuts easily fall off the quesadilla. Focusing my palate on the chicken, I must say that it is delectable. It has a crunchy texture. The fillings has a hint of spiciness. I just wish that it has more cheese.
Bleu Cheeseburger
I know these are sliders so the burgers are supposed to be small but it’s just sad that the patty doesn’t even cover the whole mini bun. But I like them because they’re beefy and juicy. It has lots of caramelized onions, which makes the burger yummier. But it lacks bleu cheese, which is ironic because the sliders are named after the mentioned cheese. It is served with criss cross fries that is totally crispy. It actually tastes like KFC fries.
