Happy N’ Healthy: Choose The Food For Your Mood
It’s been two years since I left DLSU and I can’t help but miss our moments at Agno during lunch break. Of course, Agno is one of my favorite places in school. Aside from the simple al fresco dining, this food house contains stalls that sell budget-friendly meals.
I call Agno as the mini food park of DLSU since it gives an ambiance of being in a park and at the same time, the best food kiosks are gathered in this place. It’s actually not part of DLSU compound but since it is just beside the school, Lasallians somehow claim it as one of their canteens. Most students take their lunch and snacks here because the food are not just great, but also affordable. Food inside the school are a bit pricey so some prefer Agno.
When I feel like having healthy lunch or snack, Happy N’ Healthy, previously named The Healthy Corner, was the perfect option. It’s been two years but the flavors of each meal I’ve tried is still vivid in my mind.
Meat + Carbs + Veggies
They have this option where you can customize your meal and choose your meat, carbs and veggies. I had beef, brown rice and carrots combo. Despite of the dull color, I’m surprised that the beef is flavorful and moist. It’s seasoned and sautéed with something I can’t recognize. I just remembered that it’s good. I just hope that they retained its nutritional values even though the beef has other flavors than its natural ones. The carrots and the rice were steamed on their own so I know, for sure, that they’re not less healthy.
Pizza + Potato
I like their first concept which is being healthy. There’s no problem adding being happy but adding pizza and potato wedges as part of their new menu. Is that even healthy? I’m surprised at how they managed to do that. I can’t feel any oil in both dishes so that’s one healthy point already. Pizza has quite the same flavors of their Herby Carbonara, except that this is cheesier. It wen’t well to be honest. Although not too crispy, the wedges, which are baked, I assume, are as good as the fried ones. Kudos to this!
Grilled Salmon Meal
I always want the Grilled Lamb Meal badly but I always end up having the Grilled Salmon Meal because the lamb is always not available. Yep! I keep saying always because it happens always. But I’m still thankful because the salmon is satisfying. It’s glistening pink inside. It has the same sauce with the beef but suits better with the salmon. The sauce is skin-deep but the flavor reaches the fish flesh. The broccoli flowers are fresh as I can taste its juices.
Herby Carbonara
It’s sad because I received this cold. I’m assuming that the pasta is already prepared in Tupperware, then, they just microwave the sauce and top it. It’s okay if that’s the process for faster and more efficient serving but don’t let us feel it in the taste. When it comes to the flavors, the carbonara is generously served with chicken cuts and mushroom. I can totally recognize the herbs used. It was actually the herbs that makes The Healthy Corner’s Herby Carbonara distinct.
Muscle Shake
For drinks, they also offer the healthy stuff! The Healthy Corner’s Muscle Shake tastes exactly like the one my mom’s blending at home. That’s actually possible because we’re using the same ingredients, which are whey protein, oats and banana. I just hope they added something that will make it exceptional. That is why I liked their Moringa Shake. The combination of this shake is new to my palate. The mix of malunggay and banana may raise an eyebrow but amazingly, the fusion worked well in this drink.
