How I Make Chilean Strawberry Sangria

I’m no alcohol drinker. But sangria and fruit punches are exceptions!

As I search for my next strawberry project, I discovered the famous Chilean sangria!

Side note: I’m stocking up a lot of strawberries at home because I’m currently selling homemade strawberry milk and strawberry sandwich. Message me directly if you want to buy.

Anyway, Chilean Sangria, locally known as Borgoña, is a cocktail that combines red wine, fresh strawberries and homemade strawberry syrup. This strawberry sangria is a staple on Fiestas Patrias or holidays that mark the beginning of the Chilean independence process. The name, Borgoña, is translated from Burgundy, the old term for most French wines.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

  • Strawberries
  • Lemon
  • Sugar
  • Red wine
  • Ice

2. Wash, remove leaves and slice strawberries into two.

3. Sweeten strawberries with sugar. The ratio is one cup of sugar to one kilo of strawberries. You can leave this for one hour but I prefer putting it in the fridge overnight.

4. Get your cup and fill cup with strawberries, syrup and ice cubes.

5. Pour red wine.

6. Top with sliced lemon.

7. Your Borgoña is now done and ready to be served.
