Life Hacks For Car Riders
It’s the 20th day of quarantine period in our region and we still couldn’t get out of our houses. Our car might be wondering already why it hasn’t left our compound for a long time now. While thinking about car and imagining long rides, I’ve listed down the
For the meantime, while we are stuck at our houses, let’s read these life hacks I’ve prepared for car riders, regardless if you’re on the driver seat, navigator seat or passenger seat. So once the lockdown has been lifted and the virus has ended, we can apply these tips when we finally ride our cars and have a good long travel.

But don’t be reliant on this tip too much because this could just reduce the problem. It’s always best to get an extra bottle of coolant ready and to check your car before opting for a long drive.

It’s a good thing we found out that a clear nail polish can be a solution to the problem. Use the polish’s applicator brush to spread a thin layer over the entire scratch. It will fill the grooves of windshields and glass windows.
3. If you feel like someone’s following you, take four right turns or form a square. If you notice that they’re still behind, then they are following. You can apply this not just when riding your car, but also when walking. For this photo, I captured the map of my town because my town has this perfect grid-like streets.
4. I know a lot of friends that easily get when riding a car so this hack is for them and people like them. If you get road sick, tilt your head to the side and it will eventually go away. I don’t know what’s the scientific explanation behind this but it works for me, especially when my head follows when the car is negotiating a curve.
5. Sometimes, we get lazy to cook our dinner so we choose to take out food from our favorite fast food. After drive-thru, we put our food on a seat warmer so even though we get stuck in traffic or travel a long way, we woll arrive home with our food still hot. Hey! That’s one thing why you need to buy a seat warmer.
6. Boost the range of car’s remote alarm by holding it against your chin. This may sound absurd but this one unbelievably works. Our head is filled with fluids, which ends up being a nice conductor. This tip can totally save your time, especially when the remote isn’t working. Plus, it may help you find your car in a parking lot when you’re lost.
7. One thing I love about Toyota Hilux is the number of cup holders inside. They’re very useful during long travel since we buy a lot of drinks along the way. But my boyfriend sold their car and changed it into Mitsubishi Navarra which had less cup holders. Four cup holders in front isn’t just enough so we have to improvise by using old shoes or my current shoes.
8. Ready to go? Not yet! You can’t be ready without Google Maps! What can Google Maps do? Well, it simply downloads your route so you can access maps even without WiFi. Just search for your route and enter “Ok Maps” in the search bar. I’m a Waze gal. But there are times when I don’t have LTE so I have to use this hack.
9. If you want to buy a car, do it at the end of the month, when a salesperson, agent or dealership has to meet their quota. They will likely cut you a deal. You’ll even get a greater offer when you do your purchase at the end of the quarter because for sure, they’ll do anything just to grab that bonus.
10. I don’t know if this one would work for you because this tip just came out from my insanity. I’m sorry for my madness but let’s try this one. When you have a flat tire, take a photo of it and use it as an excuse on where are you going. Your boss or your teacher might consider this as a reason why you’re late.
