Mango Coco: Modern Thai Delights In Sydney
It was a long tiring day of walking and walking along George street and Pitt street in Sydney. Yep! We didn’t took the tram to fully explore the city. However, we could hear our stomach complaining already. Fortunately, we stumbled upon a beautifully designed Thai dessert cafe at Haymarket and found our way inside Mango Coco. Actually, we noticed a lot of Thai restaurants nearby. In fact, we also visited Tawandang and Fat Thaiger on our next days at Sydney. But it was Mango Coco that made us come back not just twice but a few more times. But we only ate twice here because during our other visits, there was a long queue of guests waiting to be seated. We’re still glad we got to discover and experience Mango Coco during our nine-day stay at Sydney. Here’s what we got.

The category is mango sticky rice but make it extra! The mango slices and sticky rice alone were a meal already. The big cuts of mango have a balance of tanginess and sweetness that went well with the sweetened rice. The coconut syrup is so delish. It wasn’t too sugary like what we have at home. To make it a combo, they added mango jelly, mango popping boba and two kinds of cream, which made it feel more like a dessert. There were a lot of things going on in here but surprisingly, they all went well together. Its generous serving definitely made two tummies full.
http___www.bigleaguekickball.com_about_ Order Soma online overnight FedEx delivery Crunchy Salt and Pepper Calamari
The Calamari is supposed to be an appetizer but it felt like it would also be good as a meal so I ordered plain rice with it. It looked a lot but honestly, the squid parts were just little. It was just covered in huge batter. I can feel the salt and pepper rub in the batter but the flavor wasn’t as intense as the Chinese salt and pepper squid. Moreover, the squid rings inside may be soft but they’re bland. It’s a good thing that there’s Spicy Mayo sauce to improve the flavors. I also enjoyed the crunch of every piece.
Garlic Crispy Pork Belly with Rice
The dish was good but, I think, the meat slices could be crispier and could bring out more flavors. We have this in the Philippines so I know how I want my pork belly. There’s plenty of fatty parts, causing us to leave the plate with a lot of leftovers. The sauce was weird. It’s watery compared to what’s in its photo in the menu so I know there’s something wrong. The meat became soggy because of this. The garlic sauce is savory but it didn’t complement the pork. Thankfully, the steamed rice was soft. Just don’t eat the lettuce. It’s bitter.
Spicy Bacon Spaghetti
It seems like we’re having an Italian and Thai fusion here. Upon hearing the dish’s name, you wouldn’t know that Thai spices would surprise me behind those noodles. But it also got the Italian preference on cooking pasta, which is al dente. Being an oil-based pasta, Mango Coco’s Spicy Bacon Spaghetti is like Bacon Aglio Olio but with the addition of fish roe and Thai chili. I’m not a fan of spicy food but I must say that the touch of chili went well with smokiness of the bacon. Hence, I find the pasta totally luscious.
Mango Coco Sago
Here’s the drink counterpart of Mango Sticky Rice. My husband and I have different views regarding the Mango Coco Sago. My husband who doesn’t like tangy stuff didn’t liked it. I, on the other hand, didn’t find it sour at all. It was sweet, actually, but it is the natural kind of sweetness that’s why, maybe, my husband found it tangy. They gave a perfect combination of coconut and mango through this cup. The smoothie becomes nutty, sweeter and creamier with the addition of coconut milk.
Thai Tea Latte
More Mango Coco drinks are coming ahead because the restaurant offers different varieties of refreshments. After all, I couldn’t leave a Thai restaurant without trying its Thai Tea Latte. However, I think I got a wrong blend because I received a less sweetened tea when I asked to add full sugar to it. That’s why it felt bland! Therefore, I don’t think I got the best flavors of a Mango Coco’s Thai Tea Latte can offer. The tip is to pair it with something sweet. Fortunately, this is a dessert cafe so there are a lot if sweets here.
Hot Mocha
I’m not a fan of mocha, to be honest, because the acidity of chocolate always ruins the coffee. Sometimes, the chocolate goes bitter with the coffee. I just tried hot mocha once in Mango Coco because my friend, who resides in Sydney, always order mocha. I’m fascinated at how this brew ended up. It’s like I mixed a good coffee and a good hot chocolate in one. I must say that they used the right chocolate for this. Was that a Belgian chocolate because it tasted like it? It’s light. The coffee wasn’t strong though but it’s recognizable alright.
Gold Bird’s Nest
Thai cuisine is known for its street food so Mango Coco, as a Thai restaurant in sydney, has placed some pre-packed Thai snacks along the streets just in front of their restaurant. I noticed that in most Thai restaurants here. Actually, their Mango Sticky Rice displayed in the counter has caught our attention and made us order. But we decided to just dine in. Upon leaving, I bought this Gold Bird’s Nest out of curiosity. It was a simple shoestring sweet potato but the idea of making this snack is amazing. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s crunchy. There’s no reason not to love.
