Missing Mrs. Fields
If there’s one pre-pandemic store I miss, that’ll be Mrs. Fields. I remember taking my class breaks in Mall of Asia and buy my favorite pastries and drinks at their stall under the stairs. After my part-time work at Sta. Cruz before, I would visit SM San Lazaro and get light snack at Mrs. Fields.
Mrs. Fields is an American snack food chain. Through its franchisees’ retail stores, it is one of the largest retailers of freshly baked specialty cookies and brownies in the United States. It became a global institution reputed for its superiority, reaching the Philippines. Years ago, Mrs. Fields landed the country’s shores.
I don’t know why but it seems that they suddenly vanish in the Philippines so I’m missing my comfort food so bad! So aside from being a review, this post is more of a recollection.
Cookies
This was taken during my first dine at Mrs. Fields and I remember that I couldn’t choose one among their cookies because they all seem good so I ended up buying every flavor available. Mrs. Fields cookies didn’t become a brand for no reason. My top one is the Milk Chocolate with Walnut Cookie because it’s chunky and chewy at the same time. It’s the texture I prefer on my cookies. The Chewy Fudge Brownie Cookie is for the sweet tooth while the Sugar Butter Cookie is for those who like it simple.
Brownie Nibblers
I’m happy that aside from brownies that are sold per piece, Mrs. Fields also offers Brownie Nibblers, which are smaller cuts of brownies sold in packs. They may be simple-looking but the flavor didn’t disappoint. The nibblers are so rich in chocolate yet they have the right sweetness because they’re made with dark chocolate. Each has moist center and has addicting crunch on the sides. The walnuts and macadamia nuts added texture and a bit of saltiness so it’s good.
Blueberry Muffin
I noticed the texture of their muffin lacked moisture, making it not that satisfying to eat. It was also messy to snack on since some crumbs were falling. If it weren’t for the blueberry fillings, it would be overly dry. But this was the only muffin I tried in Mrs. Fields and I’m hopeful that I just got an unlucky muffin. Thankfully, the taste of the bread had balanced sweetness which blended well with the tangy blueberry fillings. I wish they have drizzled more of it on top though.
Mocha Chillers
Mrs. Fields’ Mocha Chillers successfully gave me the flavors of chocolate and coffee, which are the essence of mocha. It’s indeed a thirst-quenching drink! I’m not a fan of course crushed ice on shakes but it works well in this cup. It made the drink more refreshing. Since this is sweet drink, it’s the perfect pair for Mrs. Fields’ paninis to break one’s savory palate. Yes! They also have sandwiches and they’re equally delish. I just don’t have photos of them with me.
Soft Baked Cookies
I know I already listed the freshly baked cookies from store but I would also like to try the boxed cookies that are sold in groceries. They just combined my most favorite cookie kind, chocolate chip cookie, and my least favorite one, oatmeal cookie. It was incredible. The oatmeal didn’t bother because I was enjoying the dark chocolate chips, which are melted like as if they are freshly baked. But for an oatmeal cookie, it’s too sweet. I’m so happy that in these boxes, we can still taste Mrs. Fields.
