Potato Corner: Flavor The Moment

Look! Potato Corner is just outside my bedroom. I can even have a peek of it from my window! Damn! How did they know that I’m obsessed with their fries that they needed to come near me?

Actually, the first Potato Corner in my hometown back in 2012 was also in front of the other side of our residence. It was a hit! Every single afternoon after my class, my parents would buy me their Trio Fries, which consists of their Barbecue Fries, Cheese Fries and Sour Cream Fries. Sadly, it closed down after a few years because of the owner’s personal problems.

This year, another neighbor of our franchised the known brand and the old habit of buying every afternoon just resurfaced. I don’t know why they were building the store near me! But it’s effective.

Cheese and Sour Cream Mega Fries

For my two-flavored mega fries, I opted for the Potato Corner’s original flavors. Cheese and sour cream are my go-to flavors in this shop ever since I met Potato Corner. It’s hard to choose between the two when asked what is better. It’s always this scenario. I’m gonna buy cheese fries today and I’m gonna opt for the sour cream the next time. However, this time, I’m kinda disappointed because I received a pre-cooked fries. It shows in the fries when it is pre-cooked because it got cold and hard. I know this just happens on some instances but I wish it won’t again.

Barbecue Regular Fries

Barbecue is also Potato Corner’s original flavor so I know almost everyone is familiar how it tastes like. I’m not a fan of any barbecue-flavored fries. I just tried the smallest serving of it today to give a review. I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s just my preference. But Potato Corner’s Barbecue Fries is actually delish. The powder is like a mixture that a chef rubs in meat before cooking. It has spices. It has sweetness. It has tanginess. Moreover, their regular cups are so cute. I found that two cups of these are enough for me.

White Cheddar Jumbo Fries

I guess, the cheese was a flavor with huge success because they now added variety of cheese flavors for their fries. Aside from their original cheese, Potato Corner now offers white cheddar and chili cheese. It makes me wonder how different it will be so I ordered their White Cheddar fries. Surprisingly, both Cheese and White Cheddar has their own kind of lusciousness. If I’m craving for a saltier snack, then cheese fries is the choice. For a blander cheese, white cheddar is the perfect choice.

The Sweet Corn Fries is an out-of-this-world flavor for a fries and yet it surprisingly became a nice blend to the fries. The fries were shaken in a tub of powder that nearly resembles the taste of Golden Sweet Corn, a snack ball from Regent. So, it’s bringing my childhood back in this type of action! The fries were pre-cooked but they are still hot, crispy on the outside and starchy in the inside this time. Moreover, I love that they are not selfish when it comes the flavoring the snack.

Truffle Large Fries

You can now eat truffle fries at a low cost with Potato Corner! However, you should expect it to be shaken with truffle powder instead of being drizzled with truffle oil. Adding truffle to their menu was a brave decision because not everyone would like truffle. The flavoring they used here was a salty and slightly sweet truffle. The pungency of a truffle was kinda missing. If I don’t know that this is truffle-flavored, it wasn’t that bad, to be honest. But it isn’t something that I will buy again.
