Puerto Galera’s Most Visited Viewing Deck
We were on our way to my parents’ company’s team building conducted at Squares Beachfront Apartment at the province’s famous Puerto Galera when we took our lunch at Viewing Deck Restaurant. When you’re going to or from Puerto Galera, this restaurant can easily catch one’s eye since it located along the highway and at the hillside. However, even though we passed by here for a multiple times already, it was my first time to actually visit and dine in this place.
Aside from the food, Viewing Deck Restaurant’s pride is the panoramic scenery of blues and greens. You’ll surely feel relaxed when you’re here. Thankfully, we got the chance that day to try their food while have the serene view of the sea.

The Pork Sinigang is good but I’ve tasted better and could be better. It isn’t sour like how a Sinigang should be. My companions even mistaken it as nilagang baboy because of the lack of tanginess. It has great amount of toppings though as they filled the bowl with lots of various vegetable cuts and pork chunks. Although there were more vegetables than the meat, I like that the pork has just a little amount of fats and belly.

Here’s another soup for the group, which features chicken in gingered broth. I like that the flavor of the ginger wasn’t overpowering. Oh how I hate gingers! The chicken parts were tender. The meat was able to infuse some flavors from the broth and the soup also got some hint of chicken flavors. There were just little red parts near the bones, which indicates the lack of cooking. But the rare parts weren’t felt when eaten.

The plate was so big but we’re deceived because it is actually good for one person only. Yep! The waitress said that their Pork Sisig is for two, but, for hungry people like us, this could pass as a solo meal only. It has big cuts of pork, which has crispy sides. There were also other toppings aside from the pork hash. I just hate it for having too much ginger zing. I hope that they focused the flavors more on mayonnaise than on ginger.

I love that we weren’t tricked with the size of these rings. If you see them big, the squid inside is truly big since they’re using thin coating for these rings. However, when it comes to taste, I can’t feel the freshness. It seems that these squid rings are bought frozen and ready-to-fry. The squid has no flavor at all. Even the coating is bland. They could have added a little salt for these rings to be desirable. It was only the accompanying sauce, which is sweet and sour, that gives flavors to the squid.

When we picked up our own cuts, we could see how gooey the cheese is in the Cordon Bleu. It seems like they used mozzarella, which is an incredible idea. They really showcased the good blend of ham and cheese in this dish. The chicken breast is delectable, too. It has crunchy sides, which makes me want to eat more. Overall, it tastes like pizza and it is as addicting as pizza. It’s definitely my favorite among the dishes we ordered in Viewing Deck Restaurant.
Chopsuey
At first, we’re doubtful if this is really Chopsuey because it looks more of a pork dish than a vegetable dish due to the abundance of huge cuts of pork. For a Chopsuey, it’s kinda watery but the sauce ended up okay since it added flavor to the dish. The veggies, which are mostly carrots, cabbages and chayote, give us crunch in every bite so we’re assured they’re fresh. If there were more vegetable types and the sauce is thicker, then this Chopsuey will gain a thumbs up.
Hawaiian Pizza
The Hawaiian Pizza is a one big round so it fits for the group. The crust is thin yet bready. The balance worked for my liking. It could have been crispier though. Since it has limited ingredients, I could easily dissect how it’s made. I can count the pineapple tidbits. The tomato sauce and the processed cheese they used were familiar tastes at home. If there was something unique about this, it was the ham. It’s delish. I wish it has more of it because they’re almost unrecognizable.
Pansit Bihon
Wow to this big serving of Pansit Bihon! As you can see, it has generous servings of noodles, which were balance with plenty of vegetables and meat. Yep! This is a lot. We think we got our money’s worth with this heavy serving. However, it is so many that the ingredients do not complement one another. It lacks this flavor that will supposedly bind them together. I couldn’t taste it the pansit’s sauce. The noodles is overcooked so they ended up quite soggy.
