Enjoying Every Moment At Read N’ Brew Cafe

It’s the 219th day of quarantine period in our region and it’s almost Christmas! It is an excellent time for strolling and going to different places with family and friends because of the cold season. I believe that Oriental Mindoro has a lot of must-visit tourist spots. But every Christmas season, tourists and locals alike choose Plaza de Bansud, which also serve as a place for good Christmas sceneries.

Yearly, as early as November, the town square is dressed up for the holidays. The municipal government, with the help of barangay council, give the visitors and passers-by a festive-looking background for picture-takings by decorating their assigned spots with Christmas ornaments inspired by their annual theme.

But aside from the picturesque plaza, we also keep coming back to Bansud because of nice cafe nearby. 

I’m totally happy when I learned about Read N’ Brew Cafe since there are only few cafes or restaurants in Mindoro that offers good coffee. It’s my comfort food, or drink, rather! But aside from javas and other refreshments, the cafe offers selection of food from breakfast meals, pasta, chicken wings and sandwiches.

I’m not fond of longganisa. But hey! I ended up liking their Skinless & Egg. The cute bites were sweet and meaty at the same time. The accompanying vinegar made it tastier since the vinegar itself was appetizing. They ask if I wanted my egg well done or half cooked and that’s commendable. Since it is an all-day breakfast meal, I completed the course with Hot Choco. The Hot Choco is like Swiss Miss but darker and less sweet, which is how I like it to be.

Cheese and chicken lovers will surely love the Read N’ Brew’s Parmesan Cheese Chicken. Aside from the fact that the chicken pieces were big and crispy, they were also drizzled and showered with double cheese, making sure that the cheesiness will reach the meat inside. I also enjoyed the Cappuccino I ordered with it since it’s absolutely foamy. The ratio of milk to coffee is greater though. I don’t know but I’m also feeling a hint of spice in this cup.

You can see from the crust that the bread is toasted and crispy. Aside from tuna, there’s cheese, tomato and lettuce inside, which blends with each another. Although the tuna was just minimal, the sandwich was flavorful. I had a good decision pairing it with their iced coffee. It’s flavor is heaven. It’s creamy yet the coffee is recognizable. It has a hint of chocolate, too. I hope they have more flavors of iced coffee.

The mini burgers were cheesy and we love it. For a low price, we already got three sliders, which easily makes our palate and tummy contented. The patty taste just fine and the buns were soft. And can I just say thet we’re obsessed with their fries! Flavored in sour cream, the fries isn’t oily and it has the right crispiness. We even ordered an a la carte of it. The Blue Lemonade has a great fusion of sour and sweet. It’s citrusy but it isn’t dominating. 

Tuna Pesto Pasta | Taro Frappe

There are plenty of reasons to approve their Tuna Pesto Pasta. The pasta is al dente and the sauce is yummy. It reminds me of my mom’s Tuna Pesto since it has big resemblance on taste. I wish it has more but the amount is already reasonable for the budget-friendly price. I think I don’t have to explain much about their Taro Frappe. The cafe already know how addicted we are to this frappe since it is always on our table whenever we visit.
