Spotify’s Best Songs For Travel 2017

Oh my God! The year 2017 is blessed with amazing songs. It’s was definitely hard choosing my top ten.

You may wonder why I have to choose ten songs when this is a food and travel blog. Well, I simply want to list them down and share to get a summary of this year’s music. After all, music is part of our travel. We listen when we’re at the beach, in the car, at the terminal, in the airplane and anywhere during vacation, especially now that there’s Spotify that we can access in just one click.

Listed below are my most listened songs in my Spotify travel playlist.

I’m not really a fan of romantic ballads but I can’t deny that the song is lovely and attractive to listeners, making it one of the top songs in many country’s hit charts. The song is very timely to my current love life, actually. It makes me wanna fall in love again and again. But still, I’m a dance pop person so I’ll leave Perfect at the tenth spot for now.

2017 was also the year we welcome a lot of new brilliant singers and songwriters and Julia Michaels is one of them. Thanks to Spotify! Issues is a pop song at the best. Apart from the tune, the lyrics delivers a great message. We all got issues. It’s finding that one person that’s willing to love us despite of all our issues. We need more of this, Julia!

As always, Demi Lovato has shown her powerful voice, not just in Sorry Not Sorry, but also in the whole Tell Me You Love Me album. Sorry Not Sorry got it right with length, the timing, the hooks and the soars. The song never gets old. No matter how much I listen, I never get bored. It’s a mood-changing song!

I can’t decide between Thunder or Believer because you have to agree that both Imagine Dragon’s songs are irresistible. I went with Thunder only because I have to choose. It’s also my first time to watch an Imagine Dragon’s music video and they show a strange kind of art. Nevertheless, Thunder’s music is attractive and addictive at the same time.

6. Despacito – Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee

As we all know, there are two versions of Despacito – the one with Justin Bieber and the one without him. I know that the remix version is peaked higher in charts and Justin Bieber made the song more popular than it was, but I still think that the original was better. It sounds more cultural and traditional so it’s new and unique to my ear.

5. As If It’s Your Last – BlackPink

Third generation’s BlackPink is the Kpop girl group on the rise. I can already feel it with their recent song, As If It’s Your Last. Their songs improve over time. Their latest single is a mixed genre of music and a change of sound from their previous releases. Aside from the wonderful bop, the song also has outstanding dance choreography.

4. Feels – Calvin Harris feat. Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean

How can this song be bad? It is packed with star-studded artists. Their voices just blended perfectly, resulting to a great disco funk song. Even their were a number of singers, I like that each of them were given spotlight to showcase their prowess. My friends who are in a band also got attracted because of the beat or base or whatever they call it.

3. Swalla – Jason Derulo feat. Nicki Minaj and TY Dolla $ign

I already liked Swalla the moment I heard it from Spotify. The beat is on fire. Jason Derulo is a straight-up banger! Just don’t mind the lyrics and the music video, I guess, because it’s rated SPG. Apart from Jason Derulo himself, when I hear Swalla, I can see Lisa Manoban dancing in my head. I wish I could dance like her!

2. Paris – The Chainsmokers

It’s The Chainsmokers year! At last, they got their breakthrough for their skills in music. We also discovered that Their album, Memories…Do Not Open have a lot of significant songs year and Paris was my low-key vibe. Actually, Something Just Like This should also be here but I hear it too much on radios that it became common.

1. Let Me Go – Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso feat. Florida Georgia Line and WATT

I was in big regret when I didn’t place Hailee Steinfeld’s Starving in my top song list last year. That should be my top one in 2016. It’s still my favorite until now. It’s a good thing she has another song this year that deserves the top list again. The lyrics is kinda heartbreaking. She’s admitting her mistakes and asking to let her go. But setting it aside, the tone of the song makes me groove.
