Super Bowl Of China
Yesterday was my first time in Super Bowl. Before yesterday, I don’t have any clue what’s inside that restaurant. Hmm? I think noodles and soups because of their name, Super Bowl? I really don’t know. So, I didn’t expect anything when my family decided to eat there. But yesterday was a blast! We went to Super Bowl MOA branch and all tables were occupied. I also saw that the inside was in traditional Chinese-style so I had a hint that this restaurant serve really good Chinese Cuisine because of the style and their number of customers.
Upon looking on their menu, I learned that Super Bowl of China offers a wide range of enjoyable dishes – from soups and congee to dim sum, from noodle dishes to rice toppings, from roasts to their main dishes of chicken, pork, beef, seafood and vegetables. They also have free chicharon!
Here’s what we ordered that were totally good. I am not a fan of Chinese food, but I’m loving Super Bowl cuisine. So, if you’re craving for Chinese Cuisine, Super Bowl is the best place and perfect for family bonding.
Fried Crispy Chicken
When a fried chicken is Hong Kong-styled, I know that it’ll be incredible. I’ve had Hong Kong-styled Fried Chicken before and it never fails. But in Super Bowl, I thought it was just comforting. I didn’t know it would have a kick. The crispy skin makes me selfish. I want them all! The chicken meat was savory on its own but the spicy salt and the Workcestershire Sauce on the side were great condiments to satisfy taste buds, too. Yep! I’ve eaten a lot today because of the Fried Crispy Chicken. Why did we order half only?
Beef with Black Pepper Sauce
I can see an authentic Chinese beef dish here. I admire how thin these slices were and how tender each piece were. The seasoning and marinade of the beef is on point. They were savory and rich. I can clearly sense the flavors of the bell pepper from the dish even though I didn’t had a direct bite of them. The pepper sauce added moisture and delight to the dish. You can see them on the glistening beef cuts. I already understand why the people in line outside the restaurant are waiting to come.
Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet
The fish was extra clean. I didn’t even have time to chew the fish. All I got was the crunch from the exterior and the finger-licking lusciosness of the sweet and sour sauce. The fish melted clear away. Unbelievably, that’s how it is supposed to be felt. They succeeded on giving this experience to me and to their customers. The sweet and sour sauce has a touch of savory Chinese flavors into it. The flavor isn’t something that usually find at sweet and sour dishes at home. This one has neater taste.
Deep Fried Cuttlefish with Spicy Salt
I’m a squid person when it comes to breaded seafood but Super Bowl made me realize that deep-fried cuttlefish can be a great contender. Instead of chewy, the filling was soft. It just dissipated in my mouth, melted and slid down like a butter. I’m glad that I caught the natural juices of the fish that blended with the spicy salt. Speaking of the rub, it was different from the salt and pepper flavorings I usually get from other Chinese restaurants when I order salt and pepper squid. This is more addicting like as if I’m eating a seafood cracker.
Seafood Chopsuey
Chopsuey is pretty common to Filipinos as it is one of the dishes we continue to cook after Chinese influenced us with their cuisine. However, the Super Bowl’s version has less amount of ingredients but has more variants of them. There are mushrooms in their Chopsuey that added an earthy touch and crunchy texture. The sauce was evidently pale and viscous but it was full of flavors from the vegetables. There’s a delicate quality in the food. There were shrimps but their flavor is nowhere to be found.
Szechuan Shrimp
I don’t know but I think our family is really into breaded seafood that we ordered another one last night. Amazingly, the three seafood dishes have their own style with this shrimp, being tossed in spicy Szechuan sauce. It isn’t the best food presentation displayed out there but when I tasted this type of fiery blend of peppers and spices, I know that there is history on this plate. I just hope that they let the flavors of the shrimp shine more. But since the sauce was great, it’s good. This is China to me. This is China!
