Tamper Coffee And Brunch: Simplicity Is The Ultimate Sophistication

You will easily agree to this quote when you enter Tamper Coffee and Brunch, a cafe in Tagbilaran City that showcases modern and minimalist interior with cozy ambiance. It made me wonder if the owner of this restaurant does interior designing on the side. Everything is well-planned from walls to table placements. Colored in white, gray and wood, every area is instragram-worthy.

Honestly, Tamper is not included in our Bohol itinerary. For our breakfast during our second morning in Bohol, we were planning to head to Crescencia Cafe after visiting Baclayon Church. But night before, my mom is requesting to leave early so we could visit more tourist spots. However, Crescencia Cafe would still be close if we arrive there early so I have to change plans night before the tour. I did a quick search online and saw this stylish cafe near our place. Perhaps, this is God’s plan so we can discover one of the best coffee shops in the city. But for me, it’s the best so far. In fact, we got back in Tamper to spend our third morning before we leave Bohol.

Here’s what we ordered in our two-day visit. And oh! Did I already tell you that their food presentation are posh, too?

We were here for breakfast but since it was our first time in Tamper, I would like to try their blended drinks as early as seven. It didn’t fit my morning but I can’t deny that it’s good. However, this espresso-based drink doesn’t give any sign of coffee in flavor. It’s pure sweetness and creaminess. I think the caffeine all went to Cafe Latte because the coffee in this cup dominated the milk and sugar. I actually like my coffee this way.

Here’s another hot and ice-blended tandem from Tamper. If the latte is strong, their cappuccino is stronger maybe because most of its milk are frothed. As you can see, it’s really foamy just like how a cappuccino should be. On the other hand, the Strawtella is good but if you’re not aware what smoothie this is, you wouldn’t easily recognize that there is strawberry and Nutella in it. The flavors doesn’t taste natural.

Ooh! Menu says Local Hot Chocolate. Do they get this from the Chocolate Hills? Kidding! Anyway, mom picked this hot non-espresso beverage and I couldn’t help but have a sip. The moment it set foot on our table, the aroma is already telling us how great this hot chocolate would be. And I’m happy that the smell didn’t tricked us. The rich cocoa flavor and thick texture speaks a lot about its honest-to-goodness quality.

Avid readers of this blog would know that my boyfriend and I are steak lovers. That’s why when we found out Steak and Eggs in Tamper’s menu, we immediately grabbed it. The steak has this heavenly taste my heart couldn’t forget. It’s juicy and tender at a medium rare cook. There’s a barbecue sauce but I don’t think we need it because the steak flavored with herbs is already satisfying. The egg with that golden sun and potato wedge side are also luscious.

Pesto

I don’t think that their Pesto is made out of basil but whatever herb they used, it’s incredible. It gives unique flavors to the perfectly cooked al dente penne pasta. The amount of olive oil is just right and the Pesto levelled up even more when it is salted with parmesan cheese. The dish doesn’t have any warm toppings but these few ingredients managed to make the pasta delish and irresistible.  This is definitely one of my faves in Tamper.

Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup

Customers who bought Tamper’s Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup would argue that cheese and tomato go well together. Actually, I’m not contented in just sipping the soup and munching the toast separately. When I dipped the grilled cheese into the tomato soup, it made an explosionof amazing flavors. The tomato soup alone is tangy and savory while the grilled cheese is not just oozing with cheese. It’s also oozing with yumminess.

Tuna Sandwich

This is not just a sandwich nor a regular toast. This is a premium one! Every part of the bread is crunchy. It’s kinda hard to eat since the sandwich is sturdy. But I didn’t mind it anymore because it’s fun to eat. The bread is toasted in butter so the bread alone can already pass as a snack. The coldness of the tuna spread is just bothering me. But the tuna filling is delicious and abundant in tuna and veggies. It’s like a coleslaw salad with lots of tuna.

Pancake Tower

After trying all these dishes, it’s not difficult to fall in love with Tamper. I promise they offer outstanding food. But I hate to say that their Pancake Tower is a disappointment. They opted for a classic pancake. I like the presentation. It’s simple yet classy. However, it failed in texture and in taste as well. It’s dry and there are parts that are tough to slice. When it comes to taste, it’s bland and not creamy.
