The ViKing Of Mindoro
Opening a new Breen Milk Tea branch in Mindoro also means venturing for restaurants in a certain location. After leaving Manila and while planning our first milk tea shop in Pinamalayan, perhaps, you’ll notice that for a few consecutive weeks, I featured restaurants in Pinamalayan. Last June, when we opened Breen Milk Tea Calapan, my blog posts were always about restaurants in Calapan. And now that we’ve opened a new branch, I think I’m starting to learn what Roxas has to offer when it comes to food.
Let me start with ViKing Grill, a Filipino restaurant that offers rice meals, entrees, sizzling and grilled dishes, bar chows, heavy snacks, desserts and drinks. Upon entering, you would already feel the good vibes in its ambiance. On one side, it displays action figures and other collectibles. Framed photographs adorned the walls. It’s a bar where you would want to spend your night since it is complete facilities like billiards and karaoke television.
Chili Cheese Sticks
This dynamite-version of ViKing Grill is recommended by my cousins from Roxas so this must be really appetizing. And I am right. These sticks wrapped with crispiness are not just oozing with melted cheese but they’re also filled with ground meat. The spiciness is just mild so anyone in the table can eat it. It’s absolutely flavorful. If only I don’t have the company with me, I would finish this plate all by myself.
Sizzling Bulalo
I just realized now that everytime we visit ViKing Grill, their Sizzling Bulalo is always on our table. It must be the company’s favorite. You can’t blame us because this beef shank is boiled to perfect softness before sizzling. It’s surprising to see that they served this whole. I personally like the crispy areas, which were seared because of the sizzling plate and the sauce, which has thin consistency and has a hint of butter flavor.
Kare-Kare
Everything’s bland in ViKing Grill’s Kare Kare. The sauce is lacking in peanut flavor. Plus, it doesn’t have the meat flavor. Even their shrimp paste isn’t salty. But it’s abundant in meat and vegetables. And I realized that their Kare Kare falls under their vegetable dishes. That explains it. The tender meat and beef tripe were bonus only. We also tried their Grilled Liempo, whose juiciness complements with the sauce.
Salisbury Steak
For another pork dish, I chose their Salisbury Steak that is sizzling as well. They also have a platter but since I was going solo that day, I had the rice meal. It’s a small patty yet thick but still small. I have to have tiny portions of salisbury for a spoonful of rice. But thankfully, it’s crispy and luscious. In rice meals, you can add juice for only 15 pesos. Nothing unusual except for their effort to be eco-friendly since they are using bamboo straw.
Pancit Bihon
Mom said it’s salty but I thought it’s bland. I don’t know if its because of our taste preference or maybe we didn’t just mix it well so we can’t easily assume that it doesn’t have a balanced taste. I’m not a fan of any pancit, except canton, but I admit that this was delish, especially when it was served hot. Mom obviously loved it because she almost consumed three quarters of it. Don’t tell mom I said it here.
Clubhouse
I find the Clubhouse slices small. Just imagine a quarter of the usual bread loaf. But I’m glad that it’s filled with ordinary yet delicious ingredients. I’m actually happy that each slices has equal size of egg yolk. See! I can already be happy in simple stuff. The ham is well-salted, the bread is fresh and the cheese is recognizable. You can’t blame me. Other Clubhouse I’ve tried has cheese but not cheesy. The fries weren’t served hot but the texture and taste were still fine.
Danda’s Pizza’s Pizza Overload
They also offer pizza, which they get from Danda’s Pizza. And since I’m a frequent visitor of Danda’s Pizza in Pinamalayan, I already know how their Pizza Overload tastes like. I admire the consistency of flavors and texture of their pizza wherever branch we go. Anyway, Pizza Overload lets you enjoy four pizza flavors in one so it’s definitely worthy. Even though the crust isn’t thin crust, I can still feel its crunch.
Halo Halo
ViKing Grill is so generous with their Halo Halo that this bowl can fill up two tummies. It has a great deal of ube. Most of the time, it’s the leche flab that makes a halo halo special. But for this one, it is the ube. However, the proportion of fruits and ice isn’t balanced. So even though the ice is made with milk, the dessert is bland. Now I understand why they gave us white sugar. We can adjust the sweetness based on our liking.
