Tiger Sugar: Brave As A Tiger
It wasn’t hard for Tiger Sugar to introduce itself when it opened its doors to Filipinos in 2018 along Bonifacio High Street. Through their Instagram-worthy brown sugar drinks, which is a first in the country, Tiger Sugar makes their customers grab their phones, take a photo of their drinks and indirectly promote their products to more and more people. This was their way of marketing their products, which caused a buzz in social media. I know a lot of us can remember Tiger Sugar catering long lines of craving customers even after a month of opening, when I though that the hype vanished.
Before, I thought that Tiger Sugar mainly offers milk teas because bloggers and customers line them up with the country’s leading milk tea shops. It was not until I first visited the shop when I discovered that their signature drink, which is also their bestseller, is only a brown sugar-flavored milk and not a milk tea or tea latte. But in their menu, they offer chilled milk, chilled tea and a mixture of both but provide only one flavor which is brown sugar.

Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cream Mousse is Tiger Sugar’s bestselling drink that I am talking about. I don’t know why a lot of people mistaken this as a milk tea. It clearly has no tea so if you say that you can’t taste the tea in it, your comment is not valid. Personally, I found it bland when I tried it the first time, even after shaking the cup 15 times. It’s ironic because it’s called brown sugar. Furthermore, I wasn’t able to grasp the cream mousse but, I think, it’s the ingredient that made the milk creamier in taste. I wasn’t able to compare because I haven’t tried the one without cream mousse.
accepted cod soma Brown Sugar Boba Black Tea
Drinking Brown Sugar Boba Black Tea, a tea with no milk, seemed like I just gulped a sweetened tea with tapioca pearls. But if they really used brown sugar for this, its amount isn’t enough to be called as such. Perhaps, the black tea was too strong that it hid the deep flavors of the sugar’s molasses. In terms of its overall taste, the drink was fine. However, I can’t think of a factor that’ll make it unique and different. When it comes to boba, it didn’t disappoint. It has the softest tapioca pearls ever. It’s one of the reasons why their customers continue to stick with them.
Brown Sugar Boba Matcha Milk with Cream Mousse
It was a mistake for not shaking the cup first because I got to sip the unblended matcha, which was as bitter as the leaves I got from the Japan. At least, I knew that the matcha used was premium. Actually, even after mixing the brown sugar and cream mousse, the matcha didn’t seem to be bothered by their sweetness. Its earthiness was still strong but it was tolerable and luscious. I could feel the quality in every sip. Moreover, they never failed on making soft pearls. I just don’t know why they didn’t taste like brown sugar this time.
Brown Sugar Milo Pudding Milk
The brown sugar milk base is proven to be delish already. However, the addition of the unmixed Milo powder and pudding can receive different reactions from different kinds of people because it’s delicious but it’s too sweet. Hence, some may like it. Some may not. Every ingredient in this cup is sweet from the sinkers to the liquid to the toppings. I hope they gave a hint of salt to counterbalance the flavor. Moreover, they could also add more ice because the drink wasn’t chilled enough.
Brown Sugar Choco Hazelnut Boba Milk
Oooh! That’s what you call a perfect tiger print! Anyway, imagine Nutella spread and brown sugar syrup in one drink. Sweet, right? It felt like I’ll had diabetes when I had my first sip. But there’s no denying that it was a good drink. I was kinda addicted to the sweetness, actually. In fact, for me, this is better than their Brown Sugar Boba with Milo. The chocolate, hazelnut and brown sugar just fit to be together despite of having the same flavor element. I also admire the choice of milk. It has this creaminess in its flavor.
Brown Sugar Taro Pudding
Brown Sugar Taro Pudding was a limited and special drink of Tiger Sugar for Mother’s Day and my mom is one of its lucky receivers. I must say that through this, Tiger Sugar has brought taro drink in a new perspective. Instead of the usual taro-flavored milk tea, the brand offers their signature brown sugar milk base drink only with the addition of taro pudding. Despite of the taro merely being a sinker, its sweet bean-like flavor was dominating and was able to upgrade the drink. I couldn’t believe that it would complement with the brown sugar.
Tiger Mango Milk with Aloe and Coco Jelly
If you’re tired of brown sugar, Tiger Sugar also has fruit drinks that appears in their limited edition menu. I got to catch this aesthetically pleasing Tiger Mango Milk with Aloe and Coco Jelly, which reminds of a Filipino classic dessert, Mango Tapioca, especially that the milk part tastes like a mix of all-purpose cream and condensed milk. I got white pearls instead of coco jellies, too. The diced mangoes where still frozen when added into the cup so the fruits were quite hard to chew.
Tiger Sugar Boba Milk Ice Cream Bar
I’m totally astounded to see a Tiger Sugar ice cream bar, which is flavored in their signature boba milk flavor, during the pandemic when Tiger Sugar stores were still closed. Just like the drink, it also had those brown drizzles on the side, resembling the tiger print. I found it weird but amusing. Its taste wasn’t near to the drink since the sweetness of the ice cream’s brown sugar was just mild. It’s more milky. But I’m having fun eating the black pearls inside, which was surprising because they were still chewy despite of being stored in freezer.
