Wildflour Cafe + Bakery: Go Wild With Your Cravings
Founded by a group of multi-awarded chefs, including a three Michelin-stat chef, Wildflour Cafe + Bakery offers premium-priced food and efficient service for more than a decade now. I am quite surprised that Wildflour has been here since 2012 because I only heard about it a few years ago when people started talking about it in social media. We all know that Wildflour is a big name for their pastries.
We’re fortunate that they open at six in the morning as we initially struggle to find a decent place to have breakfast when we’re around Sta. Mesa. With this, we got to try some of Wildflour’s dishes.
can you buy soma cash on delivery Seafood Chowder
It was a simple Seafood Chowder but because of the large bread on top, it looked extra and fancy. I had fun dipping this side item into this cream-based soup. It’s a good thing that the soup itself wasn’t merely a liquid. It also has fillings like tiny bits of clams, shrimp and bacon, which added a little touch of smokiness. The seafood flavor, which blended well with the starchy potato, was also dominant in every sip and in every slurp. It was herby but it was also peppery, which made me cough at times. The texture was just right.
Soma overnight no consult fast delivery Beef Tapa
Japanese rice bowl was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this. Aside from the good presentation, the meat is marinated in sweet soy sauce, which reminds me of Sukiyaki beef. The meat is not the crispy type like the usual Filipino tapa but I still love Wildflour’s version. Each cut were thinly-sliced moist, savory and tender. It’s flavored differently yet it still fits to be dipped in vinegar. Although we requested for scrambled egg, we were satisfied with the sunny-side eggs as they got crispy sides and runny yolks. The meal was even better because of the fried rice.
Mac N’ Cheese
It’s nice that this Mac N’ Cheese provides three different texture. The toasted top got the crunch. The middle layer is gooey and it seemed that there’s a cheese soup at the bottom. I’m not really sure on the kinds of cheese the chose, except for mozzarella, but whatever they were, they were almost as bland as the pasta. I hope that they added at least one salty cheese to give the Mac N’ Cheese more flavor. The amount of cheese wasn’t a problem. It’s just the choice of cheese. I enjoyed the shape of the macaroni though. The shells got waves on their edge, which makes them cute.
Soup, Salad, Sandwich
The sandwich is a simple grilled cheese but, amazingly, it got the nutty flavors of Gruyere cheese, the tanginess of sourdough bread and the sweetness of caramelized onions all at once. I had fun dipping them into the tomato soup that has the right sourness. The soup is not too thin and not too thick. I wanted to focus on the soup and sandwich part because these two are honestly all I need when I ordered the dish but the salad also grabbed my attention. It wasn’t just composed of plain leaves. They were seasoned with salt and sugar.
Philly Cheesesteak
It’s evident from its flavor that they used high quality meat for the Philly Cheesesteak. They were even cut as thin as ham. I can’t help but compare it to our standard fave – Casa Estela’s Philly Cheesesteak Panini. When it comes to meat, Casa Estela’s doesn’t come close to the quality of the one Wildflour uses. However, judging the sandwich as a whole, I prefer Casa Estela’s. Wildflour’s Philly Cheesesteak is oily and greasy, which, I think, is unnecessary. It’s not a burger, after all. The thick-cut fries were well-seasoned and delicious.
Smoked Salmon and Eggs on Toast
Unintentionally, all of us ordered sandwiches during our recent visit. It seems that we are indeed attracted to their bread dishes. It made me wonder why I haven’t tried their pastries yet. I’ll have that next time. Going back to the toast, it was like an artwork in breakfast food form. The smoked salmon was heavenly as always. It did a good job on giving salty and briny flavors to the toast. I saw how beautiful an egg can be when I saw the fluffy scrambled egg. It had an incredible drizzle of cheese sauce. The bread was thick so its size felt proportionate to the toppings.
Iced Vietnamese Latte
Having a separate menu for beverages signifies a long list of drinks offered in the restaurant. Therefore, I’m tempted to try both their coffee and iced teas. I paired my breakfast meal with Wildflour’s Iced Vietnamese Latte. The flavor of the coffee they used is something new to my palate but in a good way. The beans has strong nutty and earthy notes that is kinda addicting. I appreciate that they only added a little condensed milk and minimal sweetener to give way to the caffeine.
Watermelon Iced Tea | Agua Fresca
I love how refreshingly light the Watermelon Iced Tea was. Both the tea and watermelon are recognizable through the sweetened drink. I just couldn’t identify the kind of tea they infused but surely, its addition gave the drink a taste of red iced tea. Moreover, I can still feel the spongy flesh of the watermelon. On the other hand, the Agua Fresca was also freshly juiced. It was naturally sweetened yet it was still delightful to drink. The combination of cucumber, lime and mint is tangy with a tiny hint of bitterness, which means it’s organic.
