How I Make Korean Raw Beef
Let’s make something I won’t eat! Yes, you read that right. Yukhoe, the Korean raw beef dish, is a delicacy loved by many, but no one can convince me to take a bite unless it’s served in Korea itself. There’s something about the authenticity and the cultural experience that makes the idea more palatable—literally.
That said, Yukhoe is a fascinating dish to prepare. With its marinated raw beef, sesame oil, and pear, it’s a perfect balance of savory and sweet, with textures that are as intriguing as its flavors. Even if you’re like me and hesitant about raw beef, the process of making Yukhoe is an adventure worth trying. So, let’s dive into this iconic Korean dish!
1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.
- 1/2 kilo raw beef steak
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Garlic
- Egg
- Sesame seeds
- Pear
2. Ground the beef. The beef should be the steak cut.
3. Mince garlic.
4. And mix this to the ground beef together with sugar, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, chili powder and salt.
5. Cut the pear into strips.
6. Place seasoned beef on top of sliced pear.
7. Top with egg yolk and sesame seeds. My yolk broke though.
8. Your Yukhoe is now done and ready to be served. As for me, I’ll cook this now because I’m not eating raw beef.
