The milk tea craze has been in the Philippines for almost a decade. But this milk tea giant from Macau, as the name implies, arrived in the Philippines just in 2017. Despite of the late arrival but just in time for the milk tea generation, it wasn’t difficult for Macao Imperial Tea to get the fame and brand awareness. In fact, in less than a year, Macao Imperial Tea was hailed as the best milk tea shop by millennials and social media users, who are milk tea consumers and lovers at the same time. I’m so proud of my bias! 

It’s easy to love Macao Imperial Tea. Most milk tea shops in the country either come from Taiwan or get their inspiration from Taiwan milk tea shops, which is focused on pearls, brown sugar and similar stuff, hence the creation and origin of bubble milk teas. Macau, the Las Vegas of China, crafts its milk tea differently. It focuses on the milk tea itself and its creaminess. Macao Imperial Tea is not your ordinary milk tea shop.

Chestnut Cream Uji Matcha

It’s my first time to try milk tea with chestnut cream and I’m surprised that this cream also suits teas like this Uji Matcha. Compared to cream cheese, the chestnut cream is sweeter and lighter. The matcha is sweet and bitter at the same time. Despite of the sweetness, I could easily recognize the green tea flavor. Their matcha is one of the best I’ve tasted.

I always thought that their base milk tea has balance amount of milk and tea. I’m also aware of the mango-like texture of their pudding since I’m adding it on our orders before. So when I tried their Red Bean and Pudding Milk Tea, I was only checking the red bean. Well, there’s nothing unusual about it. But I’m surprised that suits this drink.

Kitten Milk Tea

Honestly, I ordered Kitten Milk Tea because of the marshmallow shaped like a cat’s paw. But disappointingly, there’s no paw-shaped marshmallow in my Kitten Milk Tea. My dream of having it on my Instagram feed crashed! Anyway, I was able to taste their base milk tea in hot form. It’s delicious but I still think that the one in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is better.

Gosh! This caramel macchiato is perfect, especially the caramel they used. I even licked the end of my straw to get the fullness of the caramel. Even without the whipped cream, this iced coffee is creamy on its own. And as always, they give instagrammable drinks. Plus, you can see their generosity for giving away adorable glass tumblers.

Over the Rainbow Soda

They serve their sodas in tumblers but sadly, the branch ran out of tumblers when I bought the Over the Rainbow Soda. But I’m here for this attractive color gradient, which I truly admire. Since it is made mostly with ice, we can only consume little. It tastes good but when the ice melts, the flavor also goes away. So basically, we are paying for the good presentation. 

Cranberry Tea

Macao Imperial Tea never failed to provide quality products so I hate to think that this Cranberry Tea has errors. First, it was served in room temperature. I was just thinking that maybe, the tea will be blander if they added more ice. But it would be more refreshing if it’s cold. Second, the tea bag is in the cup. Is the tea bag supposed to be left in the cup?

Lemon Yakult

The Lemon Yakult was dull at first. I even assumed that this is intentional to ease the tanginess since lemon and Yakult are both sour. Even though its real flavor came out after a few minutes of soaking the lemon into the Yakult, I still feel that it has more water or it’s more of lemonade with Yakult. Anyway, I appreciate having real lemon pulps from the lemon slice.

You may not see it but this is White Mocha Mpresso. I got it in paper cup because Makati doesn’t allow plastic and it makes me happy that they’re game with eco-friendly movements such as this. Going back to my drink, I don’t know why I’m getting the flavors of caramel. I can feel the sweetness of caramel than the chocolatiness of mocha. I like that the coffee is strong.

Black Forest milkshakes and frappes are already old so I tried the hot chocolate version of it for the first time and I can’t believe I’m loving and admiring the combination.
