How I Make Steak With Potatoes

A friend of mine was selling ribeye steaks and wagyu cubes online, so I thought of treating my family for New Year’s Eve. When I asked my husband which one he preferred, his answer was simple: “Why not both?” And so, for New Year’s Eve, we both had Steak Frites and Wagyu Cube Skewers.

I decided to bring a taste of Belgium to our Media Noche table by making Steak Frites. But instead of the classic fries, which I find boring and simple, I went with potato marbles. It’s a fun twist on a beloved national dish.

Even though sales were higher for our ice business today, the workload was thankfully lighter compared to the Christmas rush, with better preparation and planning. I still had the chance to cook something special for the family.

1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.

  • Ribeye steak
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Five spice
  • Butter
  • Onion
  • Rosemary
  • Marble potatoes
  • Basil leaves
  • Egg yolk
  • Garlic
  • White vinegar
  • White pepper

2. Pat the ribeye steak dry and season with salt, pepper and five spice.

3. Peel the garlic. I also minced the onion and sliced the potatoes for later.

4. Sear steak on a pan of butter, garlic and rosemary.

5. Baste the steak with butter.

6. After three minutes of searing on each side, remove the steak and fry the potatoes on the same butter.

7. Drizzle with dried basil leaves.

8. I planned to make bearnaise sauce so I separated the egg yolks from their whites.

9. Add minced onion, white pepper, white vinegar into the yolks.

10. Whisk it on a double broiler.

11. Pour butter. I utilized the used butter for this.

12. Slice the steak and arrange steak, potatoes and Bearnaise on a tray.

13. Your Steak Frites is now done and ready to be served.
