A Throwback Timeline For Music

Music just came into my mind – how it was introduced to me and the things that follow like singers, songs and such. Well, I learned music deeply and started appreciating it a decade ago so I was seven that time. As I was having a throwback, I think of the people who welcomed me to the world of the word “music”. I remember myself being inspired to those people whom they call singers. As the time goes by, I realized how the music industry of the world improves and develops itself through new genres, new musical forms, new styles and of course, new singers. And now, after ten years, I’m loving the feeling of having a music throwback. Do you remember the hottest singers of each year in the past decade and how they started?

Who would not forget the blockbuster movie, Mean Girls and the mean girls themselves, huh? Of course, no one, especially Cady Heron who is played by Lindsay Lohan wherein she got her biggest fame. The same year, she released her debut album, Speak. This was a good start for her music career.

 

Miley Cyrus

Your childhood wouldn’t be awesome if you didn’t catch Hannah Montana – they say. And I would agree to that because if you didn’t watch this musical comedy series, then you miss the cute and charming side of Miley Cyrus. She’s not that anymore. But still, her voice will be forever in our hearts – charming or wild.

 

Jonas Brothers

Talented, good-looking, generous – their parents should be really proud to have three kids who have these qualities. Formed in 2005, they gained popularity from their appearances on the Disney Channel children’s television network. And we just hope to see more of Nick, Joe and Kevin.

 

Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale

These two East High ladies from the most successful film of DCOM, High School Musical, are one true pairing! Even they’re rivals in the said movie, they call themselves VA in real life as a sign of their friendship. Their amazing voices were discovered in HSM by many that made them continue producing music.

 

Carrie Underwood

After Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barino, Carrie Underwood was the fourth American Idol winner and become the most successful Idol contestant in the U.S. Oh, that’s not an opinion. I based it on album sales and Grammys they got. And yes, she had the highest number of them among the other Idols.

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez

Another OTP here! These two gals both started in the biz as actresses before venturing into the world of pop music, where they have also been successful. Another common factor? Demi and Selena have big hearts as they are active in supporting charitable causes.

 

Taylor Swift

We witnessed Taylor Swift from her white curly hair to straight hair, from her self-titled album to 1989. And what facts did we get? To date, Taylor has received 7 Grammy Awards, 15 American Music Awards, 7 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards.

One Direction

It’s every Filipinas’ dream to see and hear One Direction personally. Their concert here in the Philippines proves that. And I understand why. They’re AmaZayn, FabuLouis, PhenomiNiall, BrilLiam and ExtrodinHarry. We’ll run out of space for adjectives that best describes them. What an incredible combo for a band of The X Factor candidates!

This made this fame monster rose into fame with lots of achievements such as Billboard magazine’s Artists of the Year and Digital Diamond Award.

I can remember myself as one of the girls cheering on him while he sings One Time, Baby, That Should Be Me, Never Say Never and One Less Lonely Girl back then. This Youtube sensation has received numerous industry award and Beliebers are still believing in his talent up to now.

Ariana Grande

As what I’ve said in English Singers We Want, this angel is my favorite. From budding actress in the Nickelodeon shows Victorious and Sam and Cat to successful recording artist, we certainly got no problem with Ariana Grande’s amazing career crossover.

 

Darren Espanto

Thanks to the Philippine’s The Voice Kids for giving us Darren Espanto. At such a very young age, he had a number of unbelievable achievements. He’s the youngest artist who staged a major solo concert at the age of 13, who had 5 single records at the age of 12 and who have an all original solo album. Woah! Just woah!

 

5 Seconds of Summer

Chart-topping singles, sold-out concerts and a massive fan-base, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Hirwin and Michael Clifford resurrected the boyband trend and are still at the top of their game. Talk about awesome. They keep on rocking our free world.

 

Meghan Trainor

Her body size inspired her to make a song that reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. I never imagine that it can happen but yes, Meghan Trainor make it happen. After her breakthrough, her sound, which is predominantly bubblegum pop, blue-eyed soul, doo-wop, and pop, was heard everywhere.

 

Fifth Harmony

Worth It, Sledgehammer, Reflection, Better Together – these are just a few tracks that today’s famous American girl group gave life. Even though they failed to progress individually to the Judges’ Houses stage of The X Factor, as their songs says, they were better together as their music climbs on top.
