Beauty Uses Of Salt
It’s the 422nd day of quarantine period in our region and just last week, I shared how honey isn’t just a good ingredient for the body’s health but also, a great remedy for the body’s outer beauty.
When I opened the cupboard to get the honey for last week’s photo taking, I saw the bottle of beer salt and I was reminded of its beauty uses. Oh yes!
Let’s bring that salt from the kitchen into our beauty routine! I’m using beer salt for this blog, hence the color. But you can use regular salt for this.

Salt being a scrub and a mineral bath isn’t new to us. In fact, there are companies that are selling salt, which are produced merely for this purpose. Salt is a skin-softening exfoliant that restores skin. It absorbs dirt, grime and toxins and cleanses your skin’s pores deeply. To have a relaxing mineral bath, add a third cup of salt to a tub filled with warm water and let it dissolve before soaking. Ah! This feels so good!
Mouth Wash
Admit that there comes a time when you’re at a travel and you forgot to bring your mouth wash. Good news! Salt can be an alternative to this. Actually, even at home, our mom is advising us to use water with salt whenever we have itchy throat. All you have to do is mix salt and water and gurgle. It’s effective because the salt has this element that acts as a disinfectant to kill the bacteria that can cause bad breath and gingivitis.
Scalp Scrub
It’s a scrub for face. It’s a scrub for body. It’s a scrub for the hands. It’s a scrub for the feet. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that it’s a scrub for the scalp as well. Salt helps loosen and remove existing flakes while stimulating circulation for a healthy scalp. The ingredient also absorbs excess oil and moisture to prevent fungal growth and inhibit the root of dandruff. To do this, sprinkle salt onto you scalp, massage your head for ten minutes and rinse.
Facial Toner
Of course, I can’t finish this list without telling the salt’s remedy to face. Salt is a great facial toner as it helps cleanse pores deeply, balance oil production and thwart bacteria that can instigate breakouts and acne, making your skin feel smooth and refreshed. To make salt facial toner, mix one part of salt to four parts of warm water. Place in a small spray bottle and spritz your face every morning and every evening.
Nail Whitening Solution
Salt’s most surprising use in this list might probably be nail brightening because it is so uncommon to buy or use products that brightens nails. But if you happen to need that, know that salt works. Salt is a natural teeth whitener and I think, it uses to the same element to reduce yellowing and stains for brighter, healthier-looking nails. It moisturizes cuticle, too. To do this, soak nails in salt and water solution for ten minutes.
