Best Of W.L. Foods

It’s our sixth day of quarantine period in our region and everyone’s sharing what they have been doing in their respective houses for the past days under the hashtag #QuarantineLife. I have no restaurant reviews or travel reviews for now since we cannot go out during this quarantine period. But we can go to groceries! So I thought of filling my blog with product reviews for the meantime. 

As my boyfriend and I walk along the corridors of the grocery looking for my next victim to review, my boyfriend spotted his childhood snacks. He remembered how he could buy small packs of these products of W.L. Foods for only one peso. He was surprised to see them in bigger packs. His exact words as he joked were “Sa paglaki natin, sila ay lumalaki rin pala.” As for me, I’m more of a biscuit gal before so I’m not used to these snacks. But I’m familiar with some of the brands.

Today, together, my boyfriend and I gonna recall his childhood snacks.

My boyfriend was surprised to see this huge Xsakto pack. I asked him what’s its difference with Tattoos because it seems that W.L. Foods loves to make corn chips. He doesn’t know. All he knows is they’re his faves before. We’ll find out today. Well, it has big and thick chips. The flavors are balanced. Pizza is recognizable though it’s not really spicy.

The difference of Tattoos to Xsakto is the size of the chips. This has smaller ones just like what you get exactly from smaller packs. As you can see, it’s already open. My boyfriend just couldn’t wait. He finished halfway before I could grab and take a photo. The sweet corn flavor is addicting. I like the chips of Xsakto more but in sweet corn flavor.

Its chiliness is so weird. I can sense the flavors of the spice but it’s not spicy. I can’t explain it. But aside from that, I actually don’t have anything to comment. It is what you expect for a mixed nuts snack. I can’t even find its difference to its competitors. But yeah! It’s good. I’m approving it. I love the cracker nuts.

We’re not fond of green peas so we tried the curls version instead. The cheese flavor intrigued us more. Wow! It tastes like green peas but we were not bothered by it. I like the cheese but it makes the snack saltier. I would appreciate it more if it has less sodium because I was drinking water time to time not because it’s spicy but because of its saltiness.

I was expecting to have something like Monde Nissin‘s Bread Stix because they appear the same. The texture is similar, too. But the peanut flavor surprised me. It’s subtle yet delish. With this, I must say that this is definitely better than Bread Stix. Now, I knew why my boyfriend can’t forget this childhood snack.

Yaahoo Tosta Bread reminds me of Oishi‘s Bread Pan. But tastewise, I must say that they are very different. This one is natural as it really does taste like a toasted bread while the other tastes more like a junk food. You could totally sense the creamy flavor of bread beneath the strong garlic flavor. This pack composes of thick and big cuts of full and firm bread.

Panda 3D

My boyfriend said he never encountered W.L. Foods Panda products before but I included them here to review so we can try their biscuits as well. This resembles Meiji‘s Hello Panda. Even the color of the packaging is the same. However, it wasn’t able to copy its taste. It would be better if this has more compact bread and creamier chocolate filling.

Panda Jack Pop

I just discovered this now and I love it. I always love pop corns covered with honey glaze. It has right sweetness and the amount of honey is fine. It’s not too crispy yet it’s not too tough or chewy. I finished the pack until the last bit. It’s an affordable alternative to other commercialized flavored pop corns. You won’t regret buying this because it has generous servings.

Panda Choco Date

I’m not familiar with the name but I’m familiar with this kind of crackers. I would describe Panda Choco Date as something between Stateline’s Loaded and Oishi‘s Pillows. With this kind of yumminess, it can actually level with these two brands. It’s delicious and it has the right sweetness despite of being double chocolate.

Sweet Dart Guava

They also have candies! I saw Sweet Dart in flavors guava, pineapple and tamarind. I chose the guava because I was looking for something sweet during that time. It’s a hard candy. It’s something like you usually buy from the street vendor. I like the flavor. It’s sweet and very fruity talaga. I would try the other flavors next time
