Energy-restoring Shake

It’s the 373rd day of quarantine period in our region and in this time of pandemic, it’s important to keep our immune system strong and to help our body to be alert at all times. Therefore, I thought of bringing back healthy shakes and granola series to my blog.

It was 2016 when I posted and shared some healthy ingredients to make flu-fighting and fit-sustaining granola and shakes. I stopped it because it was kinda cringey. But I have nothing to do today so let’s try it again.

I gathered some of energy-restoring food and transformed it into shake.

Apricot Puree

According to Global Foodbook, Apricots contain at least 85% of water content and is also a rich source of iron which is needed for energy production as iron deficiency can lead to low energy levels, poor concentration and fatigue. Water alone helps energy production. Apricots supply the body with iron which is needed to produce haemoglobin for energy. So yeah, this puree passes the shake we are aiming today.

Peanut Butter

When we talk about improving energy, for sure, nuts will be part of the discussion. Most nuts, including almonds, walnuts, and cashews, are known for their high calorie density and abundance of proteins, carbs, and healthy fats. Nuts provide decent amounts of carbs and fiber for a steady and sustained energy boost. Make a butter from it and add it to your energy-restoring shake.

Chia Seeds

My mom is a keeper of chia seeds since she always puts these into her drinks. I decided to put some on mine, too, since I remembered that seeds are boosters of energy. Chia seeds produce the top-notch energy boost you need during the workday due to its powerful trifecta of nutrients. It’s also good that they won’t cause spikes and drops in blood sugar or insulin levels, preventing cravings and overeating later.

Dark Chocolate Milk

Adding chocolate milk because who doesn’t love chocolate? Thankfully, it contributes some benefits to our target drink. According to Healthline, the antioxidants in cocoa have been shown to have many health benefits, such as increasing blood flow throughout one’s body. This effect aids the delivery of oxygen to the brain and muscles, which improves their function. Just make sure that your milk is made with dark chocolate since it has higher cocoa content.

Caramel

As we all know, sugar puts fuel into our blood quickly that’s why I placed caramel, a product output of sugar, as a sweetener for this shake. Some glucose is essential for the brain, central nervous system, and red blood cells to function properly. But since we do not recommend too much intake of sugar, a small amount of caramel would be enough for this shake. After all, its effect as an energy-booster is short term.
