How To Make Peppermint Mocha
It’s the 254th day of quarantine period in our region and it’s almost Christmas. Breen is getting ready for its next milk tea flavor, which will be a drink fit for the season. We’re planning to have Peppermint Mocha Milk Tea, inspired by Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha Frappe. But instead of coffee, it will have a mocha-flavored milk tea as base.
Right now, we are buying and stocking up lots of candy canes as preparation for the launching of our next milk tea. But as we wait for the date, I’m stealing some candy canes to make my own peppermint recipes.
First up is Peppermint Mocha, which is the hot coffee version. This chocolaty and minty java is both a comfort and refreshment in a cup, especially in this chilly weather.
1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.
- coffee grounds
- hot water
- 500 ml milk
- candy canes
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- chocolate syrup
2. Brew two tablespoons of coffee grounds into one cup of hot water. I used french press to make the coffee.
3. While brewing, crush two candy canes. I used pestle for this but you can use a kitchen hammer or food processor for this.
4. Heat the milk on a pot over low heat.
5. Melt the crushed candy canes.
6. Mix in cocoa powder and sugar next.
7. Stir and let this simmer.
8. Filter and pour coffee on a cup.
9. Pour the hot chocolate over coffee.
10. Whip the cream.
11. Top mocha with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and crushed candy canes.
12. Your Peppermint Mocha is now done and ready to be served.
