How I Make Vietnamese Crab Rolls
There will still be three months before we go to Vietnam and I can’t stop thinking about Vietnam and their food already. I have the itinerary ready. I already know the destinations to visit and even the restaurants to try. I keep learning about their food culture and I’m excited to try the authentic pho, egg coffee, banh mi, Vietnamese spring roll and bun cha.
For the meantime, let me make a Vietnamese dish at home. Let’s start with the Vietnamese spring roll.
When we think of spring roll, we usually think of China as its origin. However, Vietnamese has made this certain spring roll distinct by using banh trang wrapper.
Vietnamese spring roll traditionally consists of pork, shrimp, vegetables and vermicelli. But we’ll have kani or imitation crab for this recipe. Yep! We’re not gonna follow the traditional way.
1. Prepare all the ingredients needed.
- Vietnamese spring roll wrapper
- Carrots
- Imitation Crab
- Cucumber
- Lettuce
- Roasted Sesame Dressing
2. Slice the carrots and cucumber into julienne cut.
3. Dip the spring roll wrapper into a container of water quickly.
4. Arrange the vegetables in the middle of the wrapper and fold the bottom.
5. Place the imitation crab on top.
6. Continue rolling and wrapping.
7. Let this chill in the fridge.
8. Serve your Vietnamese Kani Rolls with roasted sesame dressing.
