Moana Sapa: Little Bali In The Heart Of Sa Pa Town

Soma fast delivery no doctors If Bali has the famous swings, Da Nang has the famous giant hand, supporting a golden bridge. The yellow-hued bridge is supported by two gigantic hands just like the hands of God. This symbolizes a mystery of nature as God is carrying the gift from the ground.

The bridge makes its name on the global stage with thousands of international tourists flocking there to check-in Vietnam’s most famous bridge.

We didn’t go to Da Nang but I found a place where I can stand on a giant hand and take a photo with the beautiful Vietnam scenery here in Sa Pa. Moana Sapa is a paradise on a cliffside, which is mainly meant for photo-taking. It’s a little Bali in the heart of Sa Pa town. The park boasts a variety of unique landscapes, making it a haven for photography enthusiasts seeking the perfect backdrop for their virtual experiences.

There are no other activities to do here aside from picture-taking. In fact, when we arrived, it barely looked like an attraction at all. My companions didn’t see the charm at first. But after I gave them samples of shots, they enjoyed the whole place and can’t stop talking about Moana Sapa for the rest of the day. It will complete your tour in Sa Pa and will fill your Instagram feed with aesthetic shots.

At Moana Sapa, we didn’t just saw the giant hand. We also met the owner of the giant hand, which, I assume, is Moana. The head doesn’t look like Moana or Te Fiti or any character in the said Disney movie though. Nevertheless, we couldn’t deny that the statue captivates tourists with its stunning presence and appears great in photos. There was a deep emotion carved on its face that shows connection to nature.

At Sunworld Fansipan Legend, we saw a piano in the middle of lavender fields. We wanted to take a photo badly but the garden was closed during our visit for an event. It’s a good thing there’s a piano at Moana Sapa as well so this is where we did our piano shots. It’s in the middle of a pool of water. By positioning the camera near the ground, it would seem that the model is playing piano on an infinity lake. You wouldn’t believe that this girl right here only knows how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on keyboards.

Since there are still plenty of spaces in Moana Sapa’s compound, some of the Bali images can also be seen here like the Hindu temples’ gates and giant swings. Vietnam is a Buddhist country so I wonder why there’s no Buddha in here but there’s a gate of heaven. Perhaps, they really saved Buddha at the top of Fansipan mountain or, perhaps, it’s sacred that it should be in temples only.

Two Bali swings were available for playing and photographing. However, I think that the management must provide a guide on this part as a safety precaution. Although they have seatbelts and they don’t swing as high as the ones in Bali, accidents may still happen in this type of setup. The employees are just in the entrance, selling and buying tickets. Staff and assistants can’t be seen in other parts of the vicinity.

Aside from the glaring safety hazards, my concern includes the poorly-maintained facilities. It’s clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. Each stations were erected on a tiled platform and these tiles were filled with dust and were not as polished as they should be. It’s kinda disappointing because glossy and reflective tiled platform can add elegant effects on photos.

Despite of being a mere view deck, I won’t deny that the location is indeed incredible. It’s situated at one of the highlands of Sa Pa so we were able to witness a panorama of the blue haze of mountain ridges above the rice terraces, which is also similar to Ubod, Bali. I also commend the well-planned landscape of the park. They can grow more plants and flowers though for a richer foliage and greener surrounding.

Upon exit, I discovered that there’s a costume rental that you can use to sway with the swing for that flowing effect. I also witnessed traditional Vietnamese attire in the shop. I’m not sure about the other establishments but these stores are located at the ground floor of Pao’s Sapa, a contemporary leisure hotel. So I wonder if they are under the same ownership.

After a tiring photoshoot at Moana Sapa, guests can take their meals at its restaurant and cafe. However, it was our last destination in Sa Pa before heading back to Manila so we didn’t have enough Vietnamese dong to buy snacks. Our money was enough for the entrance fee. I wish they accept card payment in the future. After all, tourists are starting to discover this place. They will flock here in the future.

Aside from Moana Sapa, another outdoor studio in Lao Cai and neighboring provinces are New Swing Sapa, where another set of unique photo spots are situated in a Snow White-inspired homestay, and Sapa Gate of Heaven, which is usually added to Cloud Skywalk Tour in Lai Chao. I noticed that this type of attraction is frequent in Sa Pa since the town is located on highland. There isn’t much to do in Sa Pa as well, if you’re not a hiker.
