Nüwa: Your Journey In Luxury And Indulgence Begins Here
City of Dream’s Crown Tower Is now Nuwa!
Last January 16, 2018, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited replaced its Crown Tower properties within its flagship City of Dreams integrated resorts in Macau and Manila with a new luxury hotel brand called Nüwa. The debut of Nüwa also marks the first step in the preparation for the launch of Phase III of City of Dreams Macau, currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.
Nüwa is named after a deity in Chinese mythology, initially portrayed in early Chinese literature as having a woman’s head and a serpent’s body, but eventually changed to the image of an elegant, graceful goddess who embodies classic Asian refinemen, which is what this new luxury brand is aspiring to provide to its guests.
Because of this brand change, our staycation memories in Nüwa two years ago flashed back in my mind when it was still Crown Tower. I can vividly remember how we experienced the the very best in sophistication, quality and innovation. You can already see these qualities when you enter Nüwa’s luxe lobby with high-ceiling, elegant walls, expensive-looking decorative figures and intricate chandeliers.
We checked in at Nüwa’s simplest unit yet it didn’t come far in providing premium accommodation. We were welcomed by this elegant modern interior dressed in nude hues and warm lights. The Deluxe Double Queen Room was spacious enough for me and my mom. The air-conditioned room and the neat and soft bed gave us a comfy sleep. I was tucked in comforters, hoping that check-out time won’t come.
Among all the hotel I’ve visited, I must say that Nüwa is the most generous when it comes to complementaries. There are instant coffee powders and tea bags. But I mostly found joy when I saw the single-serve coffee makers and coffee capsules that’ll satisfy my caffeine needs. In the shower area, even the not-so-essential toiletries can be found. The luxury shampoo, conditioner and body wash are from Antica Farmacista.
Whenever we come back to our unit after leaving, the room is cleaned and refilled with complementaries by the housekeepers even we don’t ask them. So yeah, we collected a lot! Knowing that we were provided with complete toiletries and bath equipments, I definitely enjoyed taking a bath in the deluxe room’s shower area, not to mention how pleasant it looked in white tiles.
The buildings of City of Dreams may look golden from the outside but from inside, the glass actually looked normal and transparent so we had a clear view of the outdoors from our window. The room we got displayed the view of Roxas Boulevard intersecting Aseana Avenue, City of Dreams’ uncovered parking slot and the resort’s electronic LED sign. If you get lucky with your room and get designated on the other side, you’ll have the view of the garden and swimming pool.
Since I was not yet serious in blogging when I visited Nüwa, I missed taking photos of the courses we had at The Tasting Room and only captured the restaurant’s signage from the lobby. I guess I was also too overwhelmed with the warm and premium dining experience that I forgot opening my phone camera. We had a five-course meal and each of them were luscious artworks. My favorite was the 52-Degree Egg Potato Mousse. It was just a mere but I can’t explain how it became as indulgent as that.
Of course, City of Dreams hotels won’t be complete without the casino as it is the main entertainment in this luxury resort. It was in City of Dreams when I entered a casino and played a slot machine. I was still underaged that time. When I won 6000 pesos, I already quit, thinking it was enough money for me. This Signature Club is the casino VIP members. We’re not members so all I was able to do is take a photo from the entrance. After all, cameras aren’t allowed inside.
Amenities include the City of Dreams garden that is exclusive for Nobu, Hyatt and Nüwa guests. No! It’s not a garden. It’s a paradise! Flowers of different kinds and colors are planted orderly and their beds are landscaped skillfully. The way they take care of the flowers is absolutely admirable. Actually, the lobby and the rooms are decorated with fresh flowers, which I assume, were picked here.
Despite of having a common garden, the three hotels of City of Dreams have their own swimming pool, featuring different designs. Compared to Nobu’s and Hyatt’s, which have the typical rectangular shape, Nüwa’s spinner-shaped swimming pool is the largest and the grandest. It is surrounded by couchers, cabanas, umbrellas and outdoor tables. The water was clean and warm. The lifeguard was also friendly.
Fitness and health enthusiasts will definitely find joy in the hotel’s gym and highly-acclaimed spa. According to their website, the gym is equipped with latest Life Fitness treadmills, bikes, steppers and weights. On the other hand, The Forbes five-star Nüwa Spa provides a rejuvenating experience in its two elegant suites, calming therapy and relaxation rooms, a vitality pool and aroma steam room.
