Viettrekking Sapa: Resort On Clouds
When planning a tour in Sa Pa, it didn’t become hard to choose for a hotel to stay in because once you open TikTok and search for a cafe or a homestay in this foggy town, it will immediately lead you to the ideal location.
Viettrekking Sapa is probably the most featured Sa Pa hotel in TikTok. I couldn’t blame the content creators because Viettrekking Sapa is indeed every viewer’s dream staycation. It’s a luxurious hotel that doesn’t cost much.
The thing I love more about Viettrekking Sapa is the fact that it has a convenient location. The Sapa station and the Sa Pa town center, where all the establishments and restaurants you need are conjoint, is just a walking distance away.
This is what I’m talking about! Look at that view from the balcony of the room we booked. Imagine having the panorama of Fansipan mountain range, Muong Hoa valley and Sunworld Fansipan Legend’s monorail while waking up in the morning. It’s indeed a sight to behold! This is honestly the main reason why we chose this hotel and it didn’t disappoint. It left us flabbergasted! Yes, I have to exaggerate!
Aside from the Deluxe Mountain Balcony View Room, we also booked a Superior Family Room so the five of us could fit. Maximum allowed number of persons here is three but it is so spacious that it can already accommodate the five of us. Because of this, I find it more comfortable to stay here than in the previously mentioned room. Moreover, the room still looked elegant and is completed with an A/C unit, television, WiFi connection and mini kitchen on top of two queen-sized beds.
But when it comes to toilet and shower, I would like to do my thing at the Deluxe Mountain Balcony View Room’s bathroom. With this backdrop of natural scenery behind the bath tub, I don’t think I need to say more. Nevertheless, the bathrooms from both units are clean and luxurious-looking. The chosen fixtures are all sophisticated, especially the shower and wash basin. Basic toiletries are provided.
Viettrekking Coffee alone is a popular destination that is usually included in Sa Pa tour itineraries since this coffee shop is considered to have the best view of Sunworld Fansipan Legend’s monorail. After all, non-guests are also welcome in the cafe. It truly feels relaxing having this kind of weather and scene while sipping a good Vietnamese coffee so I couldn’t blame tourists for stopping by the hotel’s coffee shop.
We opted to stay at Viettrekking Coffee and grabbed some drinks while waiting for our bus departure. Our tummies were already filled with coffee from different coffee shops in Sa Pa so we ordered their milk teas instead. With the addition of toasted coconut flakes, the Trà Sūa Viettrekking is new to my palate. My favorite though is the Trà Sūa Ô Long because the oolong tea was aromatic and it has a resemblance to Chatime’s Pearl Milk Tea.
Aside from the view, I love how the coffee shop’s interior was designed. The dark wood, dim lights, vibrant foliage, local stilt style and glass walls exude contemporary ambiance, which complement the atmosphere of Sa Pa. The hotel’s flagship restaurant, Viettrekking Restaurant, also shares the same vibe and interior design. It looked comfy so we decided to have our lunch here. This is also where they served their complimentary buffet breakfast.
The buffet breakfast is composed of entrees, do-it-yourself salad, cereals, fruits, bread slices and Vietnamese stuff like noodles and banh. There’s nothing fancy here but the meal wasn’t bad either. Perhaps, I just picked the usuals like white bread and scrambled eggs. I wish they took this opportunity to serve more of what the country has to offer because I believe that Vietnam has a rich food culture. Stick to it.
At the rooftop, a small edge pool and a garden is built for hotel guests. While most hotels boast their infinity pools, Viettrekking Sapa is proud to have a swimming pool in the clouds. It totally complemented the beauty of Sa Pa town. Sadly, it wasn’t a favorite spot of tourists in the hotel because of the freezing cold water. It was just us in the rooftop when we dropped by. There wasn’t even a life guard.
Without minding the language barrier, we didn’t feel like we were in another country because the staff and receptionists were all hospitable and friendly. They assisted us from the minute we arrived up to the time we left. They were doing their job well. Actually, when my companion misplaced her tripod during our stay, the management immediately acted and gladly helped us by providing a CCTV footage.
Viettrekking Sapa isn’t just a homestay or a restaurant. The hotel is named as such because I assume that it is in partnership with Viettrekking, a pioneer in building a community of explorers and organizing tours to conquer mountain peaks, tours to experience the top National Parks, islands and caves in Vietnam, especially in Sa Pa, which is a known destination for hiking and trekking.
