Wide-eyed In Philippine Tarsier And Wildlife Sanctuary

FEDEX DELIVERY Soma ~ Soma WITHOUT RX OVERNIGHT

Soma no prescription needed overnight Three things come to mind when we think of Bohol – Chocolate Hills, tarsier and Panglao. In our recent Bohol trip, we’re lucky to visit these three tourist attractions apart from one cafe, Tamper Coffee and Brunch, and one bistro, Smoque Bistro + Cafe and Bar, we dined in. For this blog post, I would to tackle our adventure with tarsiers.

soma cod saturday If you would like to see these cute little fellas up-close in Bohol, there are two sanctuaries to visit – the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella and the Tarsier Conservation Area in Loboc. We went to the one in Corella since it is near the city.

“The sanctuary provides a venue for tourist to witness the Tarsiers in their natural habitat, thriving and healthy. (It is) a place for people to learn about tarsiers and provide opportunity for everyone to join in protecting and saving the tarsiers in whatever way they can.”

Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary welcomed us with this clean and green sight and surrounding as we enter a part of tarsier’s habitat. This 8.4 hectare forest reservation, nestled within a larger protected forest, is used to protect the Philippine tarsiers by a permanent logging ban and to save the specie from being endangered.

According to the caretaker, as of the day, we could only see five tarsiers because there are only five tarsiers who rested near the lobby for the day after a night of roaming and jumping from tree to tree. They are nocturnal animals so they are sleeping during the day yet very active at night. I actually captured all five of them in my phone.

Aside from these five primates, a thousand more tarsiers are believed to live in the protected area. They are wandering in the wild which is inaccessible by the public for protection. Tarsies are territorial animals. This means that they prefer to live in isolation unlike other primates.

Breeders find it hard to multiply the number of Philippine tarsiers mainly because the female tarsier only give birth once a year and per year, they can only produce one baby. Plus, it would take two years before a tarsier could be sexually mature and able to reproduce. With this fact, I admire breeders even more for their patience and love to the Philippine tarsier.

One thing the sanctuary would like to highlight is the fact they are not monkeys. They are primates. Tarsiers’ most noticeable features are their big eyeballs, which are as big as their brain, attached to their small bodies with long fingers. For me, this made them unique and adorable. If only I can take one home.

However, tarsiers can be stressed and be scared easily so touching any part of their body is prohibited. They might bite you accidentally. Their senses are sensitive so it is a must to lower your voice when you are inside the sanctuary and to turn off flash when taking photos. If you want to see these cute mammals, you must take note these rules.

As I said, we can’t treat tarsiers as our pets at home because they are supposed to be in the wild. But I’m grateful that we can take home these tarsier stuffed toys and souvenirs! They also have key chains, fridge magnets, coin purses and shirts available for sale. They are just as cute as the real ones.

This one is a rare tarsier. Kidding! Anyway, as for my overall experience, I truly appreciate the efforts of Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary for letting us have access to their territory and see these rare creatures. But it makes me feel sad to see other people abuse this opportunity. I saw visitors surpass their limits as visitors and disrespect the privacy of the tarsiers.

I can discern the sanctuary’s care for the tarsiers. Surely, the funds from the visitors’ entrance fee will proceed to the betterment of these primates condition. But upon witnessing this kind of treatment from the public people, I recommend to donate to the Philippine Tarsier Foundation instead. Simply visit their website and you’ll find ways to help.
